Gun control debate (merged)

Well these a-holes should be in jail. But guess what, they haven't even been arrested.

Ahmaud Arbery Is Chased and Killed in "Self-Defense," 8 Years After Trayvon Martin

FYI, this happened in my neck of the woods, and I know one of the involved parties personally.

That being said, and I wasn't there, but...if you see someone you believe has been involved in property crimes in your neighborhood...and you decide to arm yourself and go after them...and you confront them...even if you did dial 911...no matter what, or how honorable your intentions might have been...you are simply asking for trouble...and in this case trouble ensued, as it almost always does under similar circumstances. The parallels with the Trayvon Martin case cannot be ignored here.

The victim did not live in that neighborhood. He had no known relatives or friends there. There's one way in, and one way out. He wasn't there by mistake or bad navigation. Why he was there, and what he was doing there, will be a focal point. As will the actions of those who confronted him. And no, it's not okay to shoot someone you think has been committing burglaries or entering autos. "Self defense" is one thing in your house, your yard, or your vehicle. It's another thing entirely when you pursued the person you had to defend yourself against.

The investigation is on its' 3rd DA due to potential conflict of interest. While I hope, as we all do, that justice will be served here, a simple internet search of crimes and shootings that involved current or former LEO's in Glynn County, Georgia over the past 10 years will give you chills.

As it did me. I have my opinions here, but that's all they are. Let the facts speak for themselves; trust the DA to find them and weigh the evidence; and then do the right thing. Let justice be found here, regardless.

The self defense isn’t because they tried to catch him, he tried to grab a shotgun from their hands while assaulting them

Like I said, I wasn't there. None of us were. But of the three who were, only two can tell their story. Would you expect the statements of a father and son to differ?

Roll the tape back from the confrontation to what led to the decision to pursue. You're a cop, Rv, right? Put yourself at the scene as the first officer on scene. Now ask yourself the questions we all would ask.

Wrong again. They shot the criminal because he was breaking into a house and when they chased him he tried to fight them and tried to grab their gun. Self defense is pretty clear

Which house? If they first saw him running down the street (as they said), then he obviously wasn't breaking into a house at that point...when they first saw him. So how, then, did they know he was breaking into a house?

Again, would you, in your front yard, make that chase?

Considering there was a video of incident and the history of the suspect plus multiple unrelated eyewitnesses. Pretty easy

There’s video of entire incident from a 3rd party

I’m my parents house as a 10th grade aged child I caught someone in my house. Chased them out the front didn’t with a 12 ga while yelling for my father who was close behind. I shut the front door behind the criminal and waited on the police. Because I had been trained by my father what to do before hand.
like you said none of us were there but in my mind....as a gun guy.....guns are to defend your life. Once that threat is over it’s the police’s problem.
