First in the overall sense it is precisely the point that the odds of a cop being right there/right then when needed are so low that drives civilian carry in the first place. Second while it certainly happens (because it's in the nature of good people to try to aid others when possible) the vast majority of defensive gun usage doesn't involve third party intercession but rather direct defense. It's simply a matter of how the circumstances most often play out. Thirdly the idea that you would rather have your family harmed or killed than have someone intercede can only mean you are a truly awful spouse/parent or are trolling. I'm thinking the latter.

I believe what we have here is a hoplophobe who noticed that EL hasn't trolled the thread since the 19th and Looth even longer and felt the vacuum needed filling. There's been more effort put in than what EL usually delivers but it's well short of what Looth can bring when he's not just mailing it in. I don't open carry. I don't want anyone to know I am armed for many reasons. I've got friends that open carry and we've discussed. Most tell me it's more comfortable to open carry rather than trying to conceal, which is probably true.
