Gun control debate (merged)

He keeps getting better

I wish I could like this more than once . I also believe ( and this is a huge statement ) Beto is one of the dumbest and most dangerous progressive liberals in politics today . Any place in this country that he gets elected to an office , will suffer .

Doesn't come close to the hypocrisy of the Right being "pro life" and pro death penalty. Explain that one to me. Those two concepts are literally polar opposites.
You are right. They are polar opposites. They have nothing to do with each other. In fact, in the belief system that you ascribe to "Republicans", the death penalty is what would be meted out to those who commit abortion. Take an innocent life, pay with yours.

I think you should get out period. You need to see life instead of listening to whatever you are. You thinking people with AR's are walking around looking for someone to shoot shows your IQ isn't as high as you think.

Just don't want redneck Rambos deciding my families' fate because they think the 2A gives them the right to. For example: I was picking strawberries with my kids recently and a guy was open carrying at the strawberry patch. The damn strawberry patch!

It's been pretty easy to ignore most of this recent diatribe of yours, not enough substance to merit a response actually, but this piqued my interest. How many civilian defense shootings involved innocents? Even better, compare that number (and the onus is on you to provide that) to those that are questionable by LEO? You know, these magical protection creatures in which you put so much faith. In fact, that needs addressing separately.

As already stated the police have no Constitutional "duty to protect". There's more than one case involved but certainly Castle Rock v Gonzales. Even taking this into account the real disconnect with this POV is that it's even rational to expect LEO to be exactly where and when you will need them. Consider:

Police show up after the fact.
Man held at gunpoint after attempt to rob disabled volunteer

Cops came later.
Woman fires shots to break up robbery outside Popeyes

Starting to see a pattern?
CITIZENS ARREST: Man with concealed-carry holds suspect, accused of crashing into cars, at bay

You go girl! (but hey, deputies "responded" when it was over...right?)
Drive-in theater manager kills man who beat her with bat: Police

Way to be there cops...er...nevermind.
Police: 1 dead in self-defense shooting in Lake Charles casino robbery

This is almost getting boring now.
Passenger shoots man who attempted to steal girlfriend's vehicle in Walgreens parking lot

And finally, because I really am bored now.
Victim scares off potential Warren robber with gun

Now it's very important to note there's no chance in hell this is anywhere close to every incident fitting this pattern and that all these examples are from the last couple weeks or so.

When the guano hits the rapidly rotating blades for a cop to literally be right there/right then before anything bad actually happens is like finding a spanish doubloon walking on the beach.

You are completely missing the point. Even if a LEO is not there, I still don't want you or anyone else opening fire to protect me and my family. You have no right to do that. That affects my constitutional rights.

I think it's safe to say you are assuming some things about gun owners. I only feel the need to respond because you are only the like the 45th person to get this wrong..
Taking rights away from law abiding citizens will not stop the criminal element from running amuck.
Typical police response time where i live is 5 to 7 minutes. If someone's breaking into my house do you think i could logic them to death? Perhaps i should hit them over the head with my degree? Hate to lose that frame, i really like it. My Louisville slugger can speak pretty well. Gee that's like bringing a bat to a gun fight... Pure silliness.
Yes I've taken license here. Not every hoodlum has a gun. You also have taken license here... Not every gun owner is what you assume they are. Why do you suppose you got such a strong response to talking points that you peppered with a healthy dose of assumption? (Rhetorical question)

Your home is a different analysis. Fire away inside your own property if you want as you are not putting the public at large at risk in your scenario above. It is the people who are willing to open fire to "protect" everyone else that concerns me.

Did he shoot anybody ?

And everyone lived... Amazing story.

I’m curious , do you feel that way about all of our rights or just select ones you deem inappropriate?

Why Canada? Why not Mexico?

A large majority of Mexico is actually very safe and not dangerous at all. My father goes for a month every year and not to some tourist spot, but to just a regular city and has NEVER had one single issue. I know that doesn't fit with your and FoxNews narrative that Mexico is only full of rapists and murderers, but it's just not true. Republicans - so scared of everything that isn't just like them.

What if you tripped and fell on a strawberry plant and broke your kids arm would you stop eating strawberries ?

That's a risk I take when I take my children to the strawberry patch and I have some control over that. I have no control over the idiot open carrying around a bunch of little kids.

Ya that doesn't apply to tia juana. I had armed guards at my hotel entrance.
As for misquoting trump

You assume everyone with a firearm is an idiot . I would hate to live with that kind of fear . My experience is if you teach the little kids the right way of doing things , they are less likely to experiment with something you’ve kept them away from .
