Gun control debate (merged)

As a 2A advocate, I have to say this is a bad mentality to have. We gun owners need to circle the wagons and resist any new gun-related restrictions, including those applied to gun accessories.

It’s not a mentality it’s just the truth . I’ve been a for gun rights advocate all my life but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t true .

I can build and fire an entire rifle without asking anyone. Not sure what your point is on that

i didn’t ask what you are capable of doing . You asked about magazine capacity and what you should have . I don’t know nor do I care what you have . The same should go for my firearms . We were talking about what’s covered under 2a and what’s not .

The anti-gun crowd is playing the long game. If we keep letting them chip away at gun rights we'll eventually be reduced to being able to buy nothing but bolt action 22 rifles.

Yeah I just had a whole rant on that exact same thing in one of my earlier posts . That doesn’t change the fact that if it’s not covered it isn’t covered . I understand what you are saying but I’d be a hypocrite if I told the left to amend 2a if they don’t like what it says then not have the same answer for us as gun owners .

Yep. The ban didn't even include the Mini-14, which functions similarly to an AR and fires the same round.
I bought at least half a dozen M-1 carbines during the ban, a rifle that takes 30 round mags and with a few parts can be made to fire full auto. And I probably didn’t pay more than $500 for any of them.

If you owned them before the ban you were able to keep them, they were "grand fathered".

I'm gonna oppose any gun restrictions regardless of their constitutionality.

I understand completely but that’s no different than them saying I’m going to restrict guns regardless of their constitutionally . When it gets before SCOTUS you will have to make a case one way or the other .

Edit : it’s just easier for me to say that they aren’t getting my guns unless they take them by force . I don’t have to justify that , it is what it is .

The major difference being that they're seeking to infringe on individual liberty while I'm defending said liberty.

Again I understand your stance but you’ll have to convince a judge that your 10x 50 scope is covered under 2a and I don’t believe that’s possible. Personal property ... yes , 2a ... No

If you didn't care why did you ask? Anyone is capable of doing it if they choose

Lever guns are my personal favorite.
3 of mine are .22's, and the other a 30/30. 2 are Marlins, 1 is a Henry, and 1 a Remington . I believe it is the only lever gun ever made by Remington, or was at one time. It is a Nylon 76. If you remember the old semi-auto Remington Nylon 66, it is a sister to that and was available at the same time. I bought it new, sometime in the mid-60's.
