Gun control debate (merged)

I have a question for you gun aficionados out there. The reports I have heard have said that the gunman used a 45 cal handgun with a "high capacity magazine". I'm not aware of a high capacity magazine for a 45 cal handgun. Set me straight, is there something I'm no aware of, or is it just media lies?

Sure, there are a number of rifles/pistols chambered in .45 cal with high capacity magazines, some in AR style

The standard magazine in a 1911 .45acp is 7 rounds. They are single stacks. I’m sure there are other models that stagger but I don’t know of any 15+ round mags for .45acp weapons unless they are some kind of extended mag. Frankly I’d guess it’s just more BS media hype. I haven’t found the pistol models listed anywhere yet

Check out a CMMG Banshee chambered in .45 ACP

HK45 10 round mags+1 = 11.

Glock 21 13 round mags + 1 =14.

Springfield XD(M) 45 10 round mags +1 = 11

Plenty of .45 pistols beside 1911’s. My USP has 12 round mags. FN 45 holds 15 I think.

The wiki for the 1911 says some mfgrs do have double stacks up to 14 rounds.

I own a FNX-45 that holds 15 in the mag.

Is that the standard mag or an extended mag. My .40 Glock standard mag only holds 15 so I figured a staggered .45 would be 13 or so 🤷‍♂️
I'm not sure what is considered extended unless that means below the grip. If that the case I guess mine would be extended. IMG_20190602_173749.jpg

Nah that looks like a standard mag to me. Didn’t realize they could get up to 15 in a double stack ACP. I think DO had mentioned your gun model also as having 15 standard.

Clarification: I’m calling BS on the media with the hi cap mags statement since I haven’t found the weapon models listed anywhere yet. Thus I think they’re just conflating as usual.

As has been shown double stacks easily go north of 10 rounds. I didn’t realize they got to 15 though.

I read earlier he was using a suppressor.

Yeah I read that one gun had a suppressor too. Gonna be interesting to see how that plays out. That’s a Title 2 item and requires registration and a stamp. I wonder if it was legally his. Guess we’ll know more in time.

Oh wow a legal title 2 item used in a crime by the legal owner. This story might be very interesting to hear unwind.

These are all Navy towns around here with an ample supply of gun shops/ indoor shooting ranges . We can and many people around here have a variety of weapons and they are decked out ( legally) . Security clearances make for easy background checks .

So they often have the equivalent of one of the worst mass shootings ever, on an average weekend in Chicago. But in the liberal calculus this doesn’t seem to count. Wonder why?

Same reason you won't see the video of a white girl in a MAGA hat getting beaten by a couple of black guys.
