Gun control debate (merged)

Ah yes, lets be an inconsiderate ahole for likes by judging a rape victim now that she arms herself.

But he is right, only in America is a woman allowed to defend herself and her family with a handgun. Basically no other 1st world country will allow you to do that. Only in America..........can you protect yourself equal to or greater than your assailant.

The comments to that tweet are about what we see here from el, mick, and paper tiger.

He is right but his tweet didn't mean what you just typed.

Not my words but I agree...

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.0925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:

• 65% of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws • 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified • 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – gun violence • 3% are accidental discharge deaths

So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Well, first, how are those deaths spanned across the nation? • 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago • 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore • 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit • 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)

So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.

I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to the reason.

Ok you win on this one, HOLLYWOOD ACTORS CAN STAY THE H3LL IN THE DEVILS CITY AND ROT!

What I have always said is that I don't understand their allure, since they are the very same weirdos that are in your local little theater. They just have a camera on them.

I agree. I also don’t understand the outrage people have about their opinions. Well at least them expressing them. They have a platform that society gave them. Not their fault.

The same people who complain about Bono celebrate Eastwood.

The same people who complain about Eastwood celebrate Bono.

Why do either of them have a platform? Because we give it to them.

I couldn't care less about what they think. Their opinions hold no weight with me, no matter which side they are on.

Got to lead em about 10 MOA when they run, because their so slow!

When the Government says you don’t need a gun, you had better believe, you need several guns!
AR15’s are just fun, now, AR10’s are even more serious and more fun....or more powerful.
Shooting is a great sport, I don’t hunt or kill animals and never will unless my life depended upon it

I have a question for you gun aficionados out there. The reports I have heard have said that the gunman used a 45 cal handgun with a "high capacity magazine". I'm not aware of a high capacity magazine for a 45 cal handgun. Set me straight, is there something I'm no aware of, or is it just media lies?

The standard magazine in a 1911 .45acp is 7 rounds. They are single stacks. I’m sure there are other models that stagger but I don’t know of any 15+ round mags for .45acp weapons unless they are some kind of extended mag. Frankly I’d guess it’s just more BS media hype. I haven’t found the pistol models listed anywhere yet

The wiki for the 1911 says some mfgrs do have double stacks up to 14 rounds.
