Gun control debate (merged)

Jesus doesn't waste his time on a cheap piece of scrap 90-two model. There's a reason Beretta quickly moved away from it.

I saw a thread on Gunboards about this situation and one poster said he’s known as the gun guy in his family. One of his family members that thinks he’s a gun nut asked if he would simply give(not borrow) him a gun for protection. He said no and the guy got pissed off.

The police data from here shows thefts and shots fired calls are up 50% from this time last year. Domestics are up 25%. Nextdoor and Ring are full of notifications about stolen cars and people trying doors at night. There’s a big group of people out there with no school, no job, and nothing to do right now.

I think it's both.

I don't. I think legally they could easily ban bumpstocks in a way that would pass constitutional muster like the "assault weapons" ban did. Where (and I hope it was purposeful) this EO can't be constitutional is they made a legally owned piece of property illegal to possess without a grandfather clause or recompense. If they can get away with doing it with bumpstocks they can get away with doing it to anything.

Why does it bother you whether or not he buys another gun?

It's like at least the third time he's used this particular troll. It was tragically stupid the first time (literally nobody thinks they're going to shoot the virus/pandemic) but even a troll should aim higher than this degree of repetition.

I knew it was coming and it’s going to get worse. Just think..... a lot of guys have only been out of work a week or two. Just wait until the bills start piling up.... the old lady starts really nagging.... the mother in law comes around more often....

I'm more with you on this issue. Literally the point of the bump stock is to create a functional analogue to a "machine gun" but not involving the the fire control group which was where the standard limitations applied. This new approach basically just makes it a matter of law that if if X modification makes a semi-auto a full-auto then the fact it isn't via the FCG is a distinction without a difference. The property issue side just seems unconstitutional as hell.

I know all will go up in % but I’ll bet those domestic number are going to start spiking soon . Lol

I think the property rights angle is the only real winning approach.

I have one customer that shared some good news with me yesterday. Their orders have tripled due to the increased demand for groceries. They’re a label maker.
Another one makes wear parts/tooling for aluminum can manufacturers..... specifically one that produces for Pepsi and Annheiser Busch..... as long as they keep that relationship they’re in high cotton. People will drink soft drinks and beer even if they have to spend their last dime to do it.

This doesn't even include policies where criminals are being released and others not arrested to keep jail populations down.

No kidding.... I’m just thinking about average wife beater wearing Joe and his dysfunctional family. Throw in the hooligans and you hit the turbo button
