Gun control debate (merged)

How many people have been shot at gun events?

Gun shows, shooting competitions, gun ranges, open carry marches?

Just look at this thread as a little slice of America. Those who are comfortable with guns, and want to carry, do. Those who are comfortable with guns and dont want to carry, dont. Those who arent comfortable with guns and dont want to carry, dont.

How are you able to say you are unsafe with the general public being armed on a day to day basis?
It's not even an argument, It's a stupid one if you think it is. All I was wanting to know from you is why you didn't. Trying to put myself in your shoes, I might have more of a need. The numbers agree with my stance which you responded as well. I'm not at a gun show. The world is not a gun show unless you want it to be.

Difference being I dont want to take away people's right because i come to a different resolution than them.

I happen to be extremely hard headed, it's difficult to push me. I wasnt ready to carry before my almost event, I wasnt going to let bad guys change me.

The facts may have changed around me but they weren't enough to change me.

I will let myself do the changing, and I will make the change when it comes. I, nor anyone, should have that ability to change denied, limited, or restricted. Or be thought more dangerous for making a change.

I've never tried to take away your "rights" nor encourage you to CC. Your experience might have made me change my tune about wanting to prepare and start carrying. I'm trying to treat and understand you as an individual so please don't label me as the "Liberal Left wanting to take your guns".

I carry because I realize I’m unable to physically fight my way out of bad situations anymore and I no longer have the amount of patience required with idiots to try and talk my way out of it.

I’m not afraid. I’m a realist about my own limitations and the best means available for me to protect myself and my family if the need arises. I also have the absolute and unwavering understanding within myself to know beyond a doubt that if I have to draw my weapon that I’ll have no hesitations in squeezing that trigger.

If you can’t find that absolute understanding within yourself, if you think you’d hesitate to shoot when necessary, do yourself a favor and don’t carry a firearm. Get some pepper spray or something else non lethal.

What you personally do is kinda the whole point that "we" have been making. Most gun owners go thru the thought process that they are that guy in the crowd with a gun. No one knows but them, probably no one. It changes the way you think, and act, and react. And not like a "I can shoot up this crowd" type of thought process, but one that's says with great power comes great responsibility.

It generally changes a person in a better way. Most of us know the gun laws far better than anyone arguing against them. We follow safety procedures pretty religiously. Yeah you get the whack jobs, but we dont like being lumped in with them, because we arent them and most arent. Hence the gun show point. Just like your "gun taking lefty" except we are far more impacted for our stance. But we can point to real thing taking away our rights, VA back a couple months ago, CA right now. Both of those were "slippery slope bs" that has come to pass.

Add in the complete dissolution of the right to assemble, and I dont see how one can argue that we were wrong about the government.
