good blog lex. I agree, i think. there are just too many questions to be answered before we crown anything on anybody. Guess we'll just have to see how the pieces fall the next few weeks.

Great post Lex. The Vols proved on Saturday that we can expect great things and with focus and WILL this can be a special year (and that we have NOT been "out-athleted" and embarassed by proper preparation). These boys CAN play with ANYBODY. Here's to hoping they will.:toast:

With the exceptions of jr and Vader! They want their name in print as much as possible.

Great job lex...Though I do want to comment on one sentence about the 'negavols':

Mr. Negavol doesn’t place much weight on what other college programs are doing. He just wants to see the Vols be a dominant football team all of the time.

I do disagree with that. I think negavols are looking at other schools, wishing UT could be like they are. Thats what is giving them fits. We arent like the other teams.

If Fulmer had us rushing for 300 yards a game and a stifiling defense, some negavols would still be clamoring for a change.

To clarify the point, I think the negavols are much less concerned with the idea of parity than they are with UT playing well. They certainly don't want to look outclassed, so you are correct in that respect.
If Fulmer had us playing every game like the one the Vols played last Saturday you would see the critics drop from 50% to 10%. Though there is no way to prove that, the UT's record in that case would leave no room for criticism.

That makes absolutely no sense. If he had them doing that they would be performing like newcomers from lesser places (Myer,Miles) that are DOMINATING the "old-school" SECer's. We are ALL hoping for contestant #3, so lay off the slaps @ those that see that 300yds and stiffling defense all around us every week and have seen one week of what the Vols are capable of when directly coaching related characteristics are done properly.

It makes perfect sense. Im not laying off what I perceive as irrational thinkers among us. Like those I have read on here who complained about Ainge not passing downfeild against UGA...WE OWNED THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE! We didnt have a reason to throw downfield. Why risk an INT or a WR injury when we are clicking off 5 yards per carry?

THAT is the irrationality I am addressing. Those who think "Fulmer isnt doing like ___________(fill in the blank)".

:toast: Got it !! That was a great plan that got executed sharply and the players AND coaches really did "work like heck".

I can't speak for everyone, but if the team we saw Saturday was what we saw every week, or even most every week, then this is one so called "negavol" who would crawl back up under his rock.

Yeah lex could write for someone. I'd say he is better than about half the columnist that i read. Watch out lex someone might see your stuff and offer you a job.
