At least the writer hit the nail on the head. Fulmer is done. His time at UT will be remembered by these losses and how poorly teams he coached play. I was a Fulmwe supporter until UCLA this year. I had to wake up and admit that this guy has lost it.
It bothers me to do so, but as the article states, Fulmer is not bigger than the program. I want wins, clear and simple. UT has the resources to affer that.

Yeah that raise and extension is looking like such a brilliant move at this point and time.

I don't think it's too late for Fulmer to be remembered for the good things he did at Tennessee. 10 years down the road, people will look at his record and NC, and remember him as a good coach, IF he steps down after the season with class and dignity.

Unfortunately, unless you've been following Tennessee football for more than a decade, you won't remember the good times.

Oh you haven't heard? They'll be rehashing our glorious 98 season all year to fill your head with positive thoughts.

And how about if he doesn't?

apathy is dangerous. i'm starting to feel it too

Yeah, we fans down here in Memphis know about apathy trying to follow this average to below average hometown team we have and we know it'll kill a program quicker than anything else!

You guys kill me. Who do you think brought us to the top? It sure wasn't Bill Battle or Johnny Majors. This notion that we were some power house football team prior to Fulmer is a joke. His success is probably gonna be his own worst enemy and unappreciative spoiled so called fans like this bunch on here.

It may be time for him to go but he deserves a little more respect than what you so called fans are showing.

Phil Fulmer made Tennessee football that power house that you all alude to as if it had been there all along. Give the man his due.

I agree Fulmer has given us alot and gave alot to this program helping make it what it is today, but he is past his prime....I don't think he should be fired, but should resign...bow out like a TN legend. He does deserve some respect for what he has given the program, but it is time to move on...and for the record I am grateful as a fan for what he has given us over the years..just my opinion

I'm not gonna say what you said isn't true. I got no problem with that. It doesn't give him a lifetime pass from ever having criticism or evaluation of results over the last 5 years though minimum.

why don't you set forth a reasonable timeline for winning something of consequence for the rest of us then and we'll go by that?

You're apparently unspoiled and a "real" fan, so I can't imagine any dispute with your opinion.

One question though: Why would you make a subversive statement like "It may be time for him to go?" Seems to undermine all of the other high minded idealistic stuff.

Can't take away his accomplishment. But we can't take away the last ten years with no SECC and/or BCS bowl either.

I've never said he didn't do great things here, but he's not Paterno or Bowden. They built programs. CPF brought consistency. There is a difference.

Phil did great things for tennessee football in the 90's. There is just one little problem its 2008.

I think back in the 90's, we had enough future NFL talent to cover up our lack of coaching (running the SAME plays over and over, terrible special teams, etc.). Now, however, we dont have those level of players....we have ones that need "coached up"......and I think the coaches ability to do that speaks for itself over the last 8-10 years. I never thought UT would be on the same level as South Carolina, Vandy, MSU and Ole Miss in the SEC.....but we most definitely are now. Sad.
