Guarantano must be liking Tennessee so far

Speaking of Jarrett's dad, how did I not know he played in the NFL?

Looks like he played a year in the NFL followed by four in the CFL.

If you watch the sidelines during games, it really seems like Dobbs and S.Jones have a great relationship. Jones follows him around everywhere. Dont sleep on Sheriron come 2017

Yep...they were riding around together during breaks and during lunch at the QB camp last weekend.

Cause even PM wasn't all that great when pressed into action his first year. He could make all the throws and you saw the ability to be great but still a freshman. He was good enough with a great team around him but the difference even in the next year was hugh. Expect Eason to struggle this year even though very talented.

Sure you're quoting the right post?

I think JG is the absolute real deal and will rack up accolades with his time at UT. However, I don't think we can really pass judgement on Dormandy and his skill set. He hasn't really been forced to run and he never really played behind 1st string O-line, 1st string RB's, etc.. From the little we saw of him, I thoughts he had better wheels than Worley and just as good if not a better arm.

Lol oh god. I hope Dormady has a better arm than Worley or he will never see the field as a starter. :)

IMO I think Quentin Dormady will get the nod in 2017. He has all the intangibles to be a great QB for us.

I agree. Dormady is not the runner that Dobbs is but I've said it before he can make 1st downs with his feet. By the same token he is an accurate passer although he hasn't had that many opportunities I've seen to really show what he can do. A lot of what he's received is mop-up duty and running the clock out. Make no mistake about it he can sling it downfield. I think the new guy should red-shirt but who knows. Remember, Dobbs was 3rd string until forced into action so you never know. It's great to know we're not hurting at QB. I sure hope Dobbs makes it though the season without injury. Every time he takes off I almost hold my breath.

It certainly nice to be in the position to have several options at QB. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

I highly agree! I can not think of a time when we were better equiped at the QB position. From what little ive seen on Dormandy, hes got a cannon for a arm, and descent wheels enough to make small scrammbles to move the chains. As for Jones, I myself havent had the chance to see much on him. How does Jones look as far as SEC arm strenth throwing the deep ball, and the deep sideline to sideline throws?

Dormady...you really haven't seen much of him. :)

The offense is versatile enough to adjust to the best QB, regardless if he is a pro style or not. All i want is that the QB who give us the best chance to win plays the most.

I don't think there's been this much anticipation about a QB signing with the Vols since Peyton made his choice.
And one thing we know from experience, you can never have too much quality QB depth.
Remember, Dobbs was 3rd string until forced into action so you never know. It's great to know we're not hurting at QB. I sure hope Dobbs makes it though the season without injury.

September 3, 1994. UCLA.
Starter Jerry Colquitt gets injured--out.
Backup Todd Helton gets injured--out.
In comes (expecting to be red-shirted) true freshman Peyton Manning.

 I'd rather history not repeat itself this year.

Dormady is a good bit faster & more agile than many people think. Consider that at 210 lbs, Dormady ran a laser-timed 4.72 40 and 4.15 shuttle in 2014. Last summer, Guarantano ran a laser-timed 4.65 40 and 4.08 shuttle after weighing in at 194 lbs.

Both QBs can run the ball effectively if they need to, but Dormady's senior rushing numbers (65 carries for 261 yards (4.0 ypc) & 5 TDs) were actually better than JG's (83 for 206 (2.5 ypc) & 6 TDs).

JG gained 344 yards rushing but lost 138 in 6 games, so he must've been sacked fairly often. He ended up w/ -46 yards on 23 carries in his last 2 games last year.

Both QBs are outstanding prospects, along w/ Jones; we're very fortunate to have such a talented trio of underclassmen.

The last thing any coach wants to do is throw a freshman QB into a bad situation, the fallout could be very hard on the confidence of a young QB. Not everyone is PM, but he was extraordinary.

What are the odds that one of the following QBs transfer after this year?

Guarantano
Dormady
Jennings

If Jones thought for a second he would be the starter at UT, for even one year, he would never have looked to transfer, as far as JG, everyone wants a freshman to come in and be the next great quarterback. Dormady will be the starter in 2017, if this offense was turned to more pro style, Dormady would look better than Dobbs. Dobbs does a great with this offense and I believe that's why it hasn't changed, but I believe it can and will changed to fit the best option at QB.

Flame away

Unless Guarantano just completely shows out and wows the coaches(which is rare and extremely hard to do as a freshman QB) then he's going to have to wait in line behind Dormady.
