Good stuff Techfan.

What is everyone saying about having the Chick fi la in the stadium that won't be open but one Falcon home game that's on a Thursday?

I heard that Chic-fil-a got a Sunday opening exemption ok for this one store.
Falcons owner is one who started Home Depot.
He has a lot of pull in this area, obviously.
It's all very political but Atlanta clergy supposedly saw no problem with this as long as the store is not open during normal church hours on Sunday.
Therefore, they won't open until 12:01.
Which, coincidentally and ironically enuf, is the same time that you are allowed to sell alcohol on Sunday in Georgia.

is the Benz actually finished...last I heard it was still ongoing...we'll play them in a cow pasture if need be...the one on GT's campus...:)

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it's finished the roof won't be opening though. Still more test need for the roof from what I understand.

And this cow pasture?? It's not neyland stadium of course, but it's a good view.

Ty! This is exactly why I was asking.

BTW, I've attended games at Bobby Dodd Stadium. It's a fine place to watch a football game. Once sat on the top row of the east stands and could hear everything (when the GT students weren't raising a ruckus).

Marta. Frick driving in this city. seriously. Traffic will be atrocious. It always is. train stop will be like a 3 minute walk from the gates (the dome was 2 minutes away). Right now there is not a lot going on in the area as far as restaurants, but its not a long walk from Downtown, maybe 10 minutes. but I walk fast and without children. Generally speaking north and east of stadium will be just fine. South there is a couple nice places, west, yeah not really.

I live in Atlanta and I always take MARTA in to GT games.

If you're coming from up north, consider parking at one of the north Red Line stations and taking the train in. Parking is free at the Sandy Springs stations.

I'm no expert on current traffic patterns in ATL but if you want to leave town after the game my suggestion is to park at Lenox Mall and ride the MARTA. There is a mall style food court and a Taco Mac sports bar, among other dining options, in CNN Center, which is connected to the GA Dome/Phillips Arena MARTA station.

I would suggest parking at the Doraville station or Sandy Springs for the out of towners. Simply because that will have you right by 285. Lenox Mall is kinda stuck in the middle of everything and traffic can be pretty bad there. You ride the train longer, but by that point it isn't crowded.

Sounds good. I've used Lenox for parking in the past and felt good about the security situation and not coming back to find busted windows and such. It's also pretty easy to follow West Paces back to I75, although there are a lot of intersections. FWIW, I drive like a maniac and I285E from I75 to 400 makes me feel like a scared granny driver although hitting it that late at night probably isn't too bad.

If I were to be honest I would say it's about 50/50, if I wasn't being honest I'd say GT %100 lol. I think GT could win by 14+ but I also think UT could win by 14+ ( of course not in the same game lol) It will probably be pretty close though. I like to think I'm unbiased, I'll even argue with my dad when he starts to act like a homer. GT struggles on D against teams who throw a lot of quick routes because we play so far off the ball and aren't very aggressive, but about half way through the season we will get more aggressive and simplify things. From what I've heard we have simplified things to start the season so the guys can play faster. We generally play well against pro style offenses. On offense I think we fair pretty good against any D unless they are Clemson/Bama type D's. One thing I like about Paul Johnson is he's a straight shooter. In 2015 he said we weren't that good, even though we started off in the top 15, we needed up with 3 wins that year. Last year he said we can hang with anyone, and we pretty much did. This year he said he's not worried about QB, and this might be the best OL he's ever had at GT. So I'm not worried about offense. On the other hand he hasn't said much about defense, he's actually been kinda iffy sounding about the D. Our secondary is very very good. The issue with us giving up a lot of passing yards is, we don't get much pressure on the QB. Hopefully that will change, we have more depth on the D line then we've had in a while. He did say that we will probably have to play three true freshman that are LB's wether it be on special teams or on D. So I think we are thin there. I try to know a decent amount about the team we are playing. UT seemed to struggle on D last year, if the guys don't step up much we should score some points, especially if the rumors are true and y'all lose the DT and LB to suspension. Y'all had struggle tackling last year right? And controlling the LOS? I think our O fairs well against yalls D, and yalls O will probably fair pretty well against our D. Therefore it could be a pretty high scoring game, midd to high 30's for both teams.

Thanks for the info man. Sounds like you guys should have a pretty good team this year if the D steps up. Maybe 70 percent was too high, however, I still think we are the favorite. Albeit, not by too much. The defensive struggles last year were almost solely due to injury. By the back half of the season, a minimum of half of our starting defense was out and our defensive tackles were down to one scholarship player so we were forced to resort to playing ends on the inside. It should be much better for the opener at least. And I have no idea about the rumours, I just pray they aren't true. I'm hoping for no injuries and for us both to beat Georgia this year.

What he just said.

Even riding the East-west line out to Indian Creek is a good option. All those stops are right on 285 for a quick getaway.

I live in Marietta and this is exactly what I have done for every Dome event. Very much recommended.

A bit off-topic, but I really can't say enough how nice of a representative TechFan has been for GT. Can't make it to the game (flying across oceans is a bit expensive), but it takes a special kinda dude to treat an opponent's fanbase the way they have.

I still hope we whoop dat azz, of course :D

GBO!

For those who are not in Atlanta very often, here's some info about parking and some other things. I personally would suggest getting parking online so your not driving around forever trying to find a lot with availability (traffic and the roads can be annoying/confusing). It might cost more but could be worth the extra money. If you are going really early I think you will be fine not getting parking in advance. I was told the stadium opens at 5:00 but the Atlanta Falcons organization says it opens 2 hours before game time which is 6:00. Food in the stadium will be priced really good, all prices are the same as if you were to get it outside of the stadium. There is a really cool view from the third level out a massive glass window looking onto the skyline of Atlanta. If you have any questions I'll try and answer them. Hope everyone coming down has a safe trip.

TechFan can you text me at 540 599 7818. I have a couple questions.

Thanks!

Most fans will be coming from I-75N. Marta wont be smarter up there.

Remember that when you're trying to get out of a parking deck at midnight.

It's just not very far from 75 over to GA400 and the Sandy Springs station.
