Curry Previews Trip to Tennessee - Georgia State Athletics

As a player, Curry's Georgia Tech teams played the Vols from 1962-64, including wins in 1962 and 1963. He also noted that his first game as a college freshman was at Tennessee in a freshman game, so he has many memories of the Volunteers' stadium.

"I remember it when it was much, much smaller," said Curry. "Obviously, it was when I was young and played there in the early 60's. I guess it was 60 or 70,000 then and it seemed big, and now it's just gigantic and steep.

"The stadium is, in terms of degree of loudness and the ability to drown out signals, it's in the top five. It's colorful with its checkerboard end zones and all that, and the incessant playing of that song [Rocky Top]. We've gotten our guys accustomed to hearing it.

He went on to say that it takes a year to get the song out of your head. lmao.

Didn't Curry coach at Kentucky and Bama? I sort of liked him on ESPN night games.

Hey guys help me out here. 33 years old, bleed orange all my life but never been to a game at neyland. My first time will be Saturday, my wife got us tickets for my birthday! I am staying close to neyland and walking and I want to soak up every bit of it, volwalk and all. I may even cry like a baby. However, I do want to tailgate and drink a few suds before kickoff. Where and who, can I tailgate with? I read volnation daily but I never post. I would like to toast a beer with a few of you.

Just wear an orange shirt and you can tailgate with probably anyone. Congrats on going to your first game at Neyland. Chances are you will cry when the Big Orange takes the field through the Power T. Nothing like it.

Its not Georgia Southern its Georgia State. If it were Georgia Southern the game would be a bit more interesting.

I obviously know who we are playing. I grew up in south Georgia, and I don't think that Georgia State has earned the rights to the GSU brand. It would be much more interesting if UT was playing GSU.

If we were playing Southern, I'd have started drinking on Tuesday thinking about that triple option.

Every time I see Bill Curry and hear how classy and well respected he is, all I can think is "yeah . . . but he's the guy that recruited Tim Couch and tried to make him run the option".

Agreed. Especially with Maggit's turf toe. I bet that Erk and Cafego would be watching that one together.

Which part, Lex? I grew up not far from Statesboro.

Or at least have a huge lump in your throat.
