I think any new coach would be hard pressed to find a better RB coach than Graham, who can and has recruited remarkably well in the SEC. But as for the others...I expect they'll be gone. Gruden would want his own coaches and I hope Hart doesn't even bother to ask that he keep any (except, again, Graham).I know I will probably get blasted for this but.... I think he should keep the entire offensive staff. Now before you all go all ape **** on me. Some justification.
1. We will return 9 starters on offense and 8 will be Sr's. all those guys would have to learn a new system in our potentially best offensive team in decades.
2. Hinshaw is the recruiting coordinator and would provide a seamless transition to HCJG who has not been studying film over the last 3 years of HS players.
3. Pittman has done absolutely nothing to deserve to be gone no matter what.
4. Jay Graham..... Come in no need for explanation here.
5. If you want to bring in your staff on offense might as well do it the second year when he would know for sure who he wanted to keep and who to let go. Don't forget this is going to be a very expensive transition for the university and we would save a lot of money in buy outs.
I know a lot of people want Chaney gone but Gruden could slowly implement his offense through out the season and make Chaney deal with it. We all have heard how extensive grudens offense is and I really do think it would be better for him to come in and determine which plays he likes and and throw in periodically what he wants of his own.
Flame away!
The problem isn't so much a new coach, but switching to an entirely new scheme and going with a career position coach, who has never run a defense at this level. Knowing he only had one year to show improvement, he should have just promoted Thomspson to DC. Thompson had the same, if not better credentials. He was a decent DC for UCF before Saban hired him. He was mentored by Monte Kiffin, who raved about his defensive mind, and then got experience under Wilcox, who had proven himself at Boise. All you have to do is look at what it has done to our defense this year to understand how detrimental it can be to change your whole philosophy in one season. Next year should be unbelievable for our offense.
I want a qb that can get out of the pocket and extend drives, a nasty rb, an OC that will use the entire field and surprise me with calls in the game, a DC that won't put our weakest players in mismatches, a penetrating DL, havoc causing lbs, and @ 4 6'1 guys in the defensive backfield that look and play like Dale freaking Carter.
I don't give a flip who coaches them either.
Gruden is a good coach but he can't turn **** in to diamonds

I think you got to remember last season and then look at this season and ask the question, "what's different?" Offensive line scheme changes and the addition of Jay Graham has made the offense look great but if you remove those variables and look at overall play calling, Bray's performance, and the WR performance then you need to look no farther than Chaney. Just think...without a running game this season we would look worse than last yearWe have the #5 scoring offense in the league, and that's having played the top 3 defenses in the league (which are all top-10 nationally).
We scored 13 pts against an Alabama which averages 8 PPG allowed
We scored 31 pts against a MSST which averages 14.4 PPG allowed
We scored 44 pts against a Georgia team which averages 24.1 PPG allowed
We scored 20 pts against a Florida team which averages 12.1 PPG allowed
Why, exactly is Chaney getting all the hate here? It just so happens that 3 of the 4 teams in the SEC with a better scoring offense than us HAVE PLAYED US and our pitiful defense (currently last in the league). Bray's interceptions have been bad, but those are on him. We are 3rd in the SEC in YPG. We have a better rushing attack than we have had in a long time. Things seem to be clicking on that side of the ball, even if it doesn't look pretty.

So, if continuity is of primary importance, then Thompson should be the DC right now.
