You guys need to slow the roll. Ain't saying it won't happen, hope like hell it does, but no fat lady in the house yet.

IF Gruden comes...Ive been saying all along he is not but this is a game changer...there better be a clause in the contract preventing him to bolt to the NFL without a heavy financial penalty

Lets hope so, but VN's track record on predicting coaching hires is about as successful as Dooley was in the SEC. Haha but I hope you are correct. GO VOLS.

If Gruden come here there will be recruits all over changing their minds. We will get some 5 star kids who want to play for Gruden. A pipeline to the NFL. Gruden can get kids ready for the NFL. You know there is alot of coaches in the SEC and other places that hope Gruden does not come to Tennessee.

Could you imagine Gruden live on Vol calls? Live from Calhouns.. Talking to Ronny from Kodak?? Lol.. Yer doin real good coach.. How will we do against the run sat? I'll hang up and listen....

Oh and state income tax. It is a deal breaker for a lot of pro athletes and coaches would be no exception.

The obvious: This works both ways and gets expensive when things don't work out.

I just saw on the Birmingham 33/40 news that Arkansas had offered Gruden. They didn't say anything about Tennessee.

The first rule of recruiting is understanding what motivates your target. Money is not always the top priority. Are their other drivers that might turn a target?:

  • Family considerations can be a strong motivator
  • An opportunity to become one of three coaches to get a Superbowl and NCAA National Championship ring
  • The opportunity to restore glory to a wavering legendary football program - which would seal your legacy
  • Sometimes doing what your conscience tells you is right and good
  • Management styles - Are you given latitude to call all shots or do you have someone over your shoulder.
