Hey Ras, how do you feel about asking athletes to take a picture with you? Is that ghey too?

Only men that lust aftger other men's signature and phone number have value in autographs. And really? Has this country come to this... where we place value on someone's signature?

If someone posts an autographed bat from George Brett or an football from Warren Moon in their business or office, is that supposed to make me buy more stuff or persuade me to use them for whatever service I need? I mean really?

Just because you think it's "ghey" doesn't mean some people find value in it.

I've got an Eric Berry signed football that my girlfriend got me sitting in my living room. Does that make me "ghey"? Some people like to have autographed items from their favorite players because it's a neat collector's item.

It's no different than going out and buying a jersey of the guy's or using his face as your avatar on an internet forum.

Asking another man for an autograph? What's next, asking him for his seven digits?

Asking for autographs is about the gheyest thing an grown man. I could see if you are a kid... that is kosher. But anyone over the age of 15 that aske for an autograph is borderline stalker or a punk and that annoys me more than a guy that wears a jersey or a necktie/blazer to a game.

I'm just saying...

I agree with the point you're trying to make, but I'd raise the age to college student, so that it's closer to 18.

Big distinction between a girlfriend's gift and you actually walking up to a guy to get his autograph/phone number.

And you were acting like it was a waste to display autographed items in your office. I've got a football sitting in my living room out on display. Is that a waste?

I've never heard of people asking for an athlete's phone number. I've also never seen anyone give a crap about other people wanting autographs until I opened this thread.

I've only asked for 1 autograph in my adult life...CPFs. I felt so stupid that I never did it again...except for CLKs...oh, and CDDs.

What about me having my picture made with EB. Is that also not cool. I'm probably older than his father.

During Titans camp, there are kids all over wanting autographs. Then, you have a bunch of men wearing a bunch of gear getting a bunch of bs signed and young kids get pushed to the back. That's why it irks me.

I'll turn the table ninety degrees and ask how people feel about asking people younger than them for an autograph. Most of the AA players on the Springbirds are under 25. My son is 16 so he's borderline. He did get Tyler Greene (when my son was 13) to sign his cap because they share the same first name.

Since I prefer a conversation I've conversed briefly with Dennis Martinez when he was the pitching coach since I was an Orioles fan and shot the breeze about times when he hurled for the O's in the 80's.

Ditto Derrick May when he was the hitting coach since I'm originally from Chicago and Derrick played there in the 90's.

I would have been nice to find their old baseball card with a sharpie and set up my son for success.

Worse. But better than wooing teenage athletes.

Lulz, there's a kid who will be the biggest athlete to come out of southwest Missouri since Mickey mantle. His name is Dorial Beckham-Green. To put things in perspective he was named Max Preps male athlete of the year as a sophomore. I realize he needs to follow long line of talented wideouts and run track in the off season.

Back to my point I imagine adults have already started to seek his autograph and there's something creepy about drooling males fawning over a 17 year old high school football player.

So I guess ras is ok with asking for a female athletes autograph?

Ya gotta get more than a pic and auto graph from a female athlete to keep your street cred. My short list includes Jenny Finch, Gretchen Bleiler, Danica Patrick and Juila Mancuso.

I actually met a PGA golfer today for the first time. I thought about it, but I did not ask for his autograph. I simply introduced myself, said it was nice to meet him, and shook his hand.

I also stole one of his shoes.

Exactly... these grown men use these kids as pawns in their twisted game to get autographs.
