Growing Up

Enjoy high school while you still can. As for college, don't stress too much about it. You will enjoy the freedom and not sure what you're career plans are, but if you still don't know don't freak out. I'm almost done with my second year of college and still have no idea what I'm doing. You will love college.

Also, everyone is saying listen to your parents and stuff. And for the most part they're right, parents have an eerie way of giving good advice. Also, you may find yourself turning into your parents as I am. My parents and I are completely different, and yet I still found a way to turn into them. It is sad, but natural I suppose.

Bottom line, just enjoy life before you have to work for the rest of it.

Oh and stay away from girls. They provide much more harm than good. Wait as long as possible before getting sucked into that endless cycle. You'll have plenty of time to find a nice girl once you get to college. You don't want to just be some girls meal plan all through high school then move on.
are you kidding me? have sex at every opportunity because that little phenomenon of youth ain't coming back.

I'm not particularly old, but still look back at some missed opportunities because I was aiming a bit high or not yet drunk enough.

finally, some advice this kid can use. i knew BPV would come though.

the worst part of growing is up realizing that it's actually called life.

1) Get a copy of Animal House
2) fast forward to the scene where the guy has a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other
3) pay attention to the devil

you are officially banned from this thread. That may be the worst advice ever given to a 16yo young man.

Stay away from relationships maybe but all girls? Geez...

Don't be the little bull that runs down the hill and gets one. Be the big bull that walks down the hill and gets them all.

"Hey man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the webs they weave...and keep on thinking free."

Believe it or not, there are some pretty good reasons not to have sex at every opportunity. Don't feel like you have to go on one big college orgyfest just because that's everyones' view of college. (this is directed towards the original poster)

i would definitely take Kenny's advice over the Boss's.

I mean Kenny Rogers sang Islands in the Stream with Dolly. He obviously grew up right...

Bruce Springsteen grew into an American icon, while growing up with the horrible handicap of being born in New Jersey. I'll listen to anything he has to say.

Some good, and some interesting, advice on this thread!

If I can add anything, it's to try to always hold yourself accountable for your actions and choices. You may feel like a kid at times, but many of your decisions from now on will be subject to scrutiny.

If you have the opportunity to get a college education, value that gift and make the most of it.

When you find yourself in a relationship that seems like the real deal, step back and make sure. It's very easy to lose yourself when you think that you've found "the one," but it's very hard to deal with the consequences when you find out that you were mistaken.

Learn to avoid amassing a huge amount of debt, and if you can, learn to save early.

Enjoy life's little pleasures, and don't pay too much attention to what society, the media, and your peers say you should desire.

Accept immediately that certain decisions can never be undone. One moment of weakness can result in a DUI, pregnancy, infection with a life-threatening STD, or a fatal accident.

Finally, if you set goals, believe in yourself, surround yourself with positive people, and work everyday toward an end, there is very little that you can't achieve.

I'm 32, and most of the above come from either personal experiences or those of friends. Hope this helps!

I liked them all but that's a great one. It's amazing how many people are saddled with a big debt after leaving school and have demolished their credit rating (yes I speak from experience on the credit part).

Here's a hint: use an incorrect SS# for all those CC offers all over campus. You get no CC but a free t-shirt is always nice :p

I'm pretty sure that as I elaborated I specified that I meant relationships...haha I don't LITERALLY mean to stay away from girls.

Most of yall suck at life. Are you trying to turn this kid into another typical d-bag?

The regae guy said it best ( dont worry be happy )!

I saw this on a church sign and kind of adopted it , it may not ever come into your life but if it does remember this !!
HATING HURTS THE HATER FAR MORE THAN THE HATED , when you hate someone it can eat you alive from inside , while the person you would hate couldn't care less . I can honestly say I hate no one .

Enjoy your young , wide open life , and live it to the fullest

Oh and girls are not like drugs , just say yes

How rude.

It's ignorant to tell a kid to have as much sex as possible while he's young. I understand, or hope, that some of yall were joking but give the kid some legitimate advice. He has enough people in the world telling him how to ruin his life without getting it here too after asking for advice.
