My neighbor is married to a woman from Mexico. She always tells people she found her a good gringo to marry.

I was standing in line to change some money in Thailand and had a conversation with a couple of women from Peking. They took one look at me and my two friends (I'm white, one was black and one was asian) and immediately identified us as Americans. I could see this happening other places as well. We tend to put more emphasis on skin tone, others look at dress, mannerisms, language etc.
