Gregg Doyel: No brainer to hire Bruce back

Hart will NOT re hire Pearl!!!! Hart wants the coaches of each sport to be popular but he doesn't want them to be rock stars and over shadow him.

We will get a mid major successful coach and try to low ball him at a cheap price....

yep...this is the worst post in years. Butch alone casts a shadow way too large for 5'6" Hart. I would reverse this statement and say Hart knows he better give it a look. Because if he doesn't and someone in the SEC picks up Bruce...well...bye Hart.

It wasn't sold out when he was here and had the #1 team in the country, why would it be now?

Perhaps this has already been stated, but while Pearl was here we had the highest average attendance for college BB in the country. You're right though, not always sold out.

Not very well researched:

"Maybe Martin has the pieces in place to turn the corner next year, improvement at the foundational level that Tennessee administrators can see from their vantage point on the inside."

Doyel actually said the decision to rehire Pearl would be outrageous, dangerous, and unprecedented, but that we should do it anyway.

There are legitimate arguments for and against Pearl. But a "no-brainer" it is not, which Doyel would be the first to tell you.

That's pretty much a hope and a prayer. If the admin cant see that, they cant be considered competent at evaluating. We certainly cant depend on FR coming in. The bulk of the load will be on Richardson/Thompson/Hubbs/ Davis. That's pretty much it unless there's a quantum leap in Reese/Moore/Cheivous/Ndaiya that's totally unforeseen. If all that happens, hell, they can have a decent team. But from my perspective, Richardson and Hubbs will be the only scorers unless a FR steps up. I'd love it if all four kick ass.

The fact it's outrageous, dangerous and unprecedented is what I'm worried about. Some want to act like the NCAA are folks to turn your nose up at. They aren't. They're like the IRS. They can ruin your life.

I think we were 4th or 5th when Pearl was here. Pretty sure Kentucky, UNC and the Cuse all averaged more than we do.
