"Tennessee football: Greg Schiano saga reaffirms incompetence of Jimmy Haslam, John Currie"

"Tennessee football is suffering. And it’s in the hands of an athletic director who failed miserably at Kansas State along with a booster who has failed miserably at, well, everything.

We’ll get to John Currie failing at Kansas State. But let’s start with the booster, a prominent one in the program.

I’ve said this before, but I want to make it clear. Jimmy Haslam III loses at everything he does."

Should have hired Blackburn. Haslam's need to worry about Cleveland the sorriest team in the NFL how much more can that city take. Sad the way they care so little about building a winning football program at Tennessee.

We have an AD who didn't even do a Google search on who he was gonna hire. Unbelievable. Currie is no quiet genius working behind the scenes on a home run hire..he's the incompetent, needle nosed disaster we feared. Here's an idea. Before making a possibly career defining hire...check to see how it might go over with the people who he's going to NEED to support it. My gawd, I can't believe how stupid and irresponsible he was/is with this, This is a MAJOR screw up of epic proportions.

It's such a dumpster fire that Lane Kiffin right now would be a welcome hire to save some semblance of credibility. Currie turned out to be everything we feared...and 100% worse.

He's on the podium talking about integrity...yet goes to hire a guy currently shrouded in pedophile accusations and would bring that stain of doubt to UT?

Wow.

They don't care about winning. Only that they have control.

This has become a huge embarrassment for everyone associated with that program, and even bleeds down to the fans. The only thing that could fix this is bring in a huge name hire. Won't happen, but I think it would go a long way to helping repair this debacle.

The only thing that embarrasses me is that our administration is so spineless and inept. They want to shove whatever down our throats and expect us to pay for $300m renovations to Neyland. Who knows where we go from here, but I'm glad Haslam didn't get his way.

I think that's it. They do not care what the fans think or want. They see a head coach opening and just want to fill it with whoever they can get and think it will be ok.

Currie was largely credited with the Frank Martin departure that took K State basketball back to relative obscurity from being a top tier program. It just reminds me of the string of stupid hire at UT, AD and coaches.

What's more frustrating to K State fans is Currie got rid of Martin and then left K State to come to UT.

Here’s the other takeaway from the Schiano debacle - they are nowhere near trying to pay the money it would take to get a big name coach. They are shopping in the bargain bin once again and won’t pay what it takes to be competitive.
