Seriously though, this ain’t happening, and I’m just joking about the Vick comment. I just thought it was funny. I actually like and respect how Mike paid for his mistakes and turned his life around.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if Saban came back to any school besides Alabama and struggled, it would actually be pretty sad.

Yeah I think he's a bit old for it now. If he had been a success in his previous NFL run I could maybe see someone taking a run at him for a few years, maybe to stabalize a franchise. But not a guy whose only attempt was a crash and burn that flamed out quickly 20 years ago.

Saban has zero to prove anywhere but certainly at LSU where he came, he saw, and he got it done already.

The only logical place is Bama where much of his infrastructure is still intact and he wouldn't need to clamp down a culture and "The Process" from scratch.

I still think Mrs Terry tells him to think about how much fun he's having, he can be the next Corso (without the stupid mascot heads,) sit at that desk for the next 15yrs and still see his grands, miss very few meals, and work on his golf game all over the country.

Whether he has met expectations, under-achieved or over-achieved depends on your assessment of his skill, ability and potential as a head coach. I have always felt he was mediocre at best as a head coach. Therefore, he has met my (mediocre) expectations of him as a head coach at LSU. He was a bad hire.

Why did they want so badly to get rid of Coach O?

He captured the LSU image quite perfectly.

Surely it wasn't merely to hire Meh Brian.

He definitely didn't underachieve at Central Michigan and Notre Dame. I think he's without a doubt underachieved at LSU.

17-7 in SEC play in 3 years is not horrible, and he did make it to Atlanta in his first year, but LSU is a place where you can and are expected to compete for national titles pretty regularly. Les Miles and Coach O are bozos and have won national titles there (Les even played for another that he didn't win).

The defense in particular he hasn't figured out yet. They had a Heisman winning QB in 2023 and lost 3 games because they couldn't stop anybody. That was also the problem last year.

Because he went 11-11 in the 2 seasons after winning it all and by most accounts completely took his foot off the gas after winning the title in 2019, plus hit on a booster's wife at a gas station.

If anything, the LSU admin kind of went easy on him. There was off-field turmoil at the time too related to the Derrius Guice allegations and other Title IX issues. They probably just didn't want all that aired publicly so they paid him the money to go away.
