Greg McElroy in love with VOLS

After watching the SEC network's anchors this season it has been apparent that Greg Mcelroy is their best up-and-coming star. Booger and Tim Tebow will always be sec network guys, but Greg will move up to the Flagship program or be picked up by a major network in the future. I actually enjoy listening to him.

I hate the phrase "pump the brakes" because it's overused here on VN, but.....

Greggy, my boy. Pump the brakes.

The video is conclusive enough for McElroy not to redshirt his opinions on Dobbs until 2015. He sees the talent and has discussed both the good and bad of Dobbs.

I never knew a Bama boy could like the Vols that much. I actually enjoy listening to him. Seems like he always gives us praise.

McElroy is from Texas so he has not regional loyalty to Alabama. Additionally, he's obviously a smart guy graduating with a Masters in 3 years with a 4.0 and dropped a 43 on the Wonderlic.

So he's obviously smart for liking the Vols.

If Tennessee beats Missouri with Kirk and Fowler there to announce it, they'll start the hype train big time. Especially if Dobbs has to manage a comeback or winning drive. The hype train will ride through Vandy week and into the bowl selection show. Tennessee will draw a great opponent at a good bowl and the talking heads on ESPN will hype Tennessee's new look and Dobbs' new-found celebrity throughout December. By the time the bowl game comes, he'll be a "Player to watch" against a good defense. If we win the bowl game, he'll have all the hype going into next year.

He's intelligent and well-spoken, so media love to talk to him. They want to talk about his major, they want to talk about his nickname(s), they want to talk about his growth, they want to talk about the turnaround under him. They want to talk about him breaking Tennessee QB records and about him practicing with Peyton. They want to talk about Tennessee coming back and him leading the way. The kid is modest, humble, and smart enough to handle it like a leader. ESPN will eat it up.

JUST WIN.

Wish we had the UGA & Florida games back!!!!! 9 - 3 record with a 10th win in the bowl game. Hell yeah!!!!!!

Tap the brakes people. He's had 3 good games, 2 of which were against putrid defenses. This week will be a big test.

I have been a Dobbs fan since he was recruited. I watched his film and after the orange and white game I knew he was it. Practice is just that, practice. He is a gamer! when Florida substituted it's quarterback I was begging that Butch do the same. throw something at them they were not expecting.

So much of the Heisman is predicated on preseason hype. It is easier for a player that is already being talked about for the award than it is for the up and comer. Make no mistake IF the Vols win out on the back of Mr.Dobbs he will be a name you hear a lot in the offseason. Also if he can bring back a stories program back to prominence the way Winston did FSU it helps to add to the hype and storyline for a Heisman finish.

Difficult not to like McElroy... despite his choice in alma mater. He does a great job in his analyses. And no, I'm not just saying that because this is about Dobbs - I mean across the board.

Thanks for posting, OP. Lots of reasons to be optimistic about 2015.

We've seen Dobbs play really, really well in two games.

TWO.

He's one year removed from throwing 2 TDs and 6 picks.

He's obviously ridiculously smart and talented, and he's done great so far this year; but, it's best to be patient, and just see how he progresses before we start saying he's Heisman (i.e. popularity contest) material. You gotta remember we've never had a Heisman winner (although we should have in '97); there's a lot to overcome before he can do that. Also, we're looking at being super-competitive in the East next season, not necessarily winning the conference. I can maybe see a push in 2016 if he has a phenomenal 2015.

UT will be a huge contender for the east next year.

UF is losing a ton of talent with some of their best players going pro, they are ranked very low in the recruiting ranks right now as well. Carolina has been owned by Jones since he arrived here and our team is improving in talent and experience. UGA will be a contender but I still see us having an edge in that game especially with it being in Kville. Oklahoma will also come in and have a lot of new players in the trenches in a very hostile environment.

Everything lines up for Dobbs to be in consideration if he plays up to his potential.

I prefer tapping the brakes myself. Seriously though, McElroy is a rising star, but yeah, I heard him this morning and he went a little too far imo.

The wonderlic is soooo overrated.

Yes. In fact, they say he still does not look good in practice now. Some players just step up their performance when the lights on. Throwing against air in practice he does not look very good. His accuracy issues are glaring. It's really not that hard to grasp.

everything and figure out who can help the team and who not. They dropped the ball on Dobbs this year.
