Greg Emerson to the transfer portal

Hope this will help him fulfill his potential and one day play in the NFL. You never know what will cause the light bulb to come on. I hope this move does it for him. Alvin Kamara needed to leave Bama to find himself, I hope this kid does the same.

The transfer portal has made it easy to quit when things don’t go your way. If you can’t crack the starting lineup at TN then your chances of making an NFL roster are practically zero. The grass is always greener until it isn’t.

The chaff is often blown away by the wind. We needed to lose some chaff from the build up over the last 3-4 years.

It’s not like Emerson played all that much or at that high of a level consistently. Next man up.

Which describes every member of the Tennessee football team.

Anyone who's left that is not named Mays could leave and this statement would be appropriate.

I say this to emphasize that (1) the sheer volume of defections is an issue and (2) no matter how many times people try to put lipstick on the pig, the current talent level of the roster is bad.

This is a 1 to 2 year survival project to gain bowl eligibility and hopefully by year 3, they can make a move. People trying to look at what's currently on the team and hoping Heupel can make chicken salad from it are not going to be pleased.

The only reason we’re not bowling this season is voluntary. Go fix something…we’re good. Save your lipstick for that pig who slobbers all over your players.

Ncaa football is a joke now. At least in pro sports you know if someone is going to leave. Not fair to teams to give players "maybe I will, maybe I won't and I'll do it whenever I want" leeway.

Yeah, because every NCAA program is churning its roster like this. TN is in uncharted territory right now. No school has been wrung out by the Transfer Portal like this.

For those keeping score...

TN has had 26 players leave through the portal to enroll in other programs.

TN currently has still 10 other players remaining in the portal that could still enroll with other programs.

TN has had 9 players transfer into Knoxville from other programs via the portal.

Pending future portal transactions, TN could still be down 17 - 27 roster positions depending on how the next few weeks shake out.
