Greenland

9 second mark.....Denmark promised $200 million for the security of Greenland but only spent 1% of that amount......cannot take the Danes at their word....Denmark cannot afford to develop or defend Greenland....have not developed roads to connect towns...

Denmark hates Greenland.

Why not just work out a deal where we are able to build our defense stuff in exchange for helping develop their infrastructure?

Look at the Venezuelan share of PRC's imports. They can make that up elsewhere with no problem.
At a cost. Venezuela was paying their loans in oil, and had to sell to China and Russia at a reduced rate due to sanctions--thus the "shadow fleets". So, China is losing out on $Billions of loans and has to shop for oil at the going rate.

Edited to add:

With the instability in Iran and that regime's likely collapse, it'll only get worse.

Then consider Cuba's likely collapse due to Venezuela's oil drying up...

The underlying point being: It all looks much more like global geopolitics and Trump's stated "Monroe Doctrine" attitude toward our Hemisphere than merely the petty tantrum about an award.

Because its not really just about being able to put up a defense (the U.S. already has this ability), meaning in theory other countries could put there own guys on the land and even extract the resources.

That's just it though, guys like Tillis are bending over backwards to try to put the blame on Stephen Miller, and absolve Trump of his responsibility, so I don't think there's anything he can do that they can't write off as "bad advice" from his cabinet, and absolve themselves of any responsibility to act.

Make no mistake, Miller is a horrible, disgusting person. A modern day Goebbels. And I would not for one second doubt but that this either was his idea originally, or that if it was someone else's he championed it.

But its Trump pressing it. Over and over and over and over.

It is Trump cajoling, threatening financial sanctions or even military action. And what's worse, its Trump threatening financial action against allies simply because they have not kissed his butt and told him how brilliant he is.

So, in the end, this is Trump's deal. Which may explain why he seems so desperate to get some concession to assuage his fragile ego.

They're not allies, and everything was fine when it was Europe not getting the other end of the stick via war or sanctions.

Why would Europeans be upset now? This is what they themselves have been engaged in for decades if not centuries.

I quit watching him during COVID. He's clearly not of sound mind anymore

I just keep wondering how much it's going to cost to remove all the gaudy gold from the white house.
I generally don’t either but he interrupted a show I was watching. Kept it there until I couldn’t stomach any more. Pretty sure he’ll now enter the Guinness Book of World Records for most lies and exaggerations told in one hour in this speech. Some of the statements were absolutely amazing. Never seen anyone with the chronic need to be stroked and coddled like he has.

We have no ability to project power in the middle-east without US bases in these "not allied" countries.

You've been trying to promote the idea that the US can function without access to these "not allied" countries, and it's not rooted in the reality of US military logistics.

You think the Greenland stuff is embarrassing then you should see this press conference that he’s doing right now in “celebration” of the first anniversary of his second regime. It really is a pitiful exhibition. Everything that is making us the laughingstock of the free world is on display. How anybody can believe one word out of his mouth is beyond me.
You weren't kidding. He's doing Q&A now, just FYI he thinks God's proud of him. Immeasurable humility, just immeasurable.

The bases in Europe were in place to protect Europe from itself, the way I believe Trump is looking at is - you're on your own, meaning each area is separate. (U.S. -> West / Russia -> Central / East -> China)

As far as Europe, they have no cards by themselves... they only have cards if China rejects Trump's plan.

War in Ukraine

This all starts when Europe finally figures out the United States isn't there friend. Europe is going to suffer for decades to come either way.

Who needs enemies when the United States is your friend?

They're just now getting angry? (Germany enjoy living in modern day 1980s USSR)

There is another part me is like, the U.S. has been invading, and bombing countries all over the planet for quite a few decades -- what's different about this one?
Hmmm. I wonder:

Afghanistan: Taliban in power-- $2 trillion
Iraq: >$3 trillion
Bolivia: no bombs, but most like a U.S. backed coup.
Ukraine: Maidan - YOU DECIDE!
Libya: Civil war/Continued instabilty
Syria: mixed bag
Haiti- No bombs (U.S. meddling to long to cite), but support for coup 1991; restoration of Aristide 1994; Aided in Aristede's removal 1994; essentially a failed state-- USA has a shameful history vis a vis Haiti since 1803.
Nicaragua: funded/trained Contras in brutal proxy war.
Argentina : supported millitary coup and junta
I guess that mostly covers the last 50 years discounting Panama, Grenada, Paraguay, Honduras. etc.

Not sure why the MI complex/ oligarchy favored a more "boots on the ground" approach in the 2000's. probably just a case of justifying a bloated military budget and needing Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, et. al. lines to go up.
I suppose a proxy war is a no go for Greenland lol.

They couldn't sell it anymore. Trump most likely is still rejecting the neocons except when it comes to Israel hence the peace plan there.

General plan at this point which some of this has been batted around for many yeard, Trump won't have to withdraw (Congress approval) from nato if all the other countries withdraw. Israel area will have support from all those in the plan. Norway could be on the bubble.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

Seriously, you need to read up on US reliance on NATO bases for Middle-East logistics, especially NATO ports for refueling and rearming.

Those mostly won't be material, although there might be locations in the middle east for support around Israel and peace plan participants.

Statement on President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict

Trump's Board of Peace has asked the EU, Russia, Belarus and Thailand to join Gaza peace plan initiative

Nobody needs 100s of bases and installations in Europe if one is not actively controlling either Europe or the middle east. It would take many years to close everything in Europe.

War in Ukraine

The United States helping out friends and foes alike. LoL Europe and NATO will find out what the rest of the world already knows about the United States.

I don't have any good options for Europe, it was nice knowing them though. I enjoyed my time there.

I do love watching Dunning-Kruger in real time...

Denmark would go to war with US over Greenland: MP

This was humorous.

It is, because no war would be necessary. Trump could just issues sanctions. I would like to see how long until their ATM cards stop working, Russia had plans years in advance, nobody else really does.

They seem to be okay with this type of warfare. 🤷‍♂️
