Greenevill Football Coach Resigns

My BS meter just went off here. This looks really fishy. Why would someone, with 21 wins in 2 years, resign all of a sudden, for seemingly no apparent reason? There's something he's hiding. Not saying it's bad, but it's something you wonder about. Might be a family thing. Might be something else we don't know much about.

In any case, it's something that makes you wonder.

I live in Greeneville and I heard a rumor that there was a lot more to the story. The main thing was misappropriation of funds. Dont know if this is true but that is what I have been hearing.

This phrase is something you usually see in politics when some retarded county commissioner goes out and spends a ton of money on fine dining and useless stuff.

However, in HS football, I'd imagine this to mean taking the money that the boosters give/raise to the program, and spending it on yourself, with no intent to repay.

I am also from the Greeneville area...I heard he was forced out because the boosters weren't happy with his plans to move the team down to 2A. Greeneville is 2A by enrollment but has been playing up in 4A for years. Mccurry announced his plans to move them back down to 2A (despite a good deal of success at 4A) and some of the main boosters said they would no longer give money.

I'm from Greeneville, but been gone many years. Will ask my people about this story. I wouldn't think it would be only up to the coach as to what division/level the team competed in.

My "sources" (OK, my dad) said that it was not the coach's call to move down to 2A, but that that is what is going to happen with GHS, and maybe that is a factor in the coach leaving, as he had enjoyed some success coaching at the higher level.

He also said this coach had turned down a couple of good job offers last year and perhaps another such opportunity had come up at this time.

But he admitted its a bit odd that the coach would anounce on a given day that its his last day and he won't be back tomorrow.
