Greatest Vol you ever saw play or met.

Probably fulmer. And I've met a lot of former and current vols. And based solely on the fact that when he was ousted he hurt so bad and never became bitter to the university. Now certain individuals maybe but that man has does and also will love the university of tennessee

Went to high school with Al Wilson and had a few classes with him. Met Fulmer one day at school when he was coming to recruit Al. Cool day.

Went to high school and played football with Val Barksdale. Met and talked with Roland James when he came home with Val and attended a basketball game. Sharrieffa Barksdale, Val's sister, and I would play spades almost every day in study hall.

i was in school there 94-97, so there were a ton of guys on those teams that were great to watch, hard to separate any, but maybe Peyton.

as far as met...i did meet Chad Clifton after the 97 SEC title game. he turned out to be pretty good.

Peyton is definitely in my Top 3. Anyone remember these? Found them today as I was clearing out a bunch of stuff.

In undergrad (83-86) I used to go to Aquatic Center, work out and run on the track - was down there a lot during track practice, and went to a couple meets too

Olympic Gold medalist Ralph Boston used to work with sprinters Sam Graddy and Terry McDaniel, and hurdler Jeff Powell was also there...

Sam Graddy was ahead of Carl Lewis at 50 meters in the 1984 Olympics, he ultimately took the silver medal in the 100, and won a gold in the 4 X 100 relay.

Terry McDaniel was blazing, pretty sure he won the SEC 100 meters...

The first time I saw Jeff Powell he was doing hurdle drills, he looked like he was poured out of granite, and said he had transferred from William & Mary and was going to play football...

Anyway...what a great thread

I've always considered McDaniel easily one of the most underrated Vols of the modern era.

Fulmer wanted to keep cashing the 48 checks totaling $6,000,000. Severance agreements generally restrict the fired party from talking poorly about their former employer.

Reggie White. Met him when I was 8 years old at the church my Mom took me to. Him and Willie Gault were the only 2 guys I remember. There were several others there. Didn't have anything for him to sign, so he signed a sheet of paper that I have to this day along with Willie and 2 other guys. Super nice guy that gave me a great childhood memory.

That's awesome! I would have loved to have meet Reggie White, and Willie Gault. Them two are Vol legends for sure.

Unfortunately, I can't lay claim to meeting many/any vol players I can recall. However, I did run track with Willie Gault in high school at griffin high. Never saw much of him except his backside and that was with binoculars cause he was way out in front of me. lol. He was and still is a speed freak. A genetic freak. At 54, he still competes in aged brackets and on the practice track can blow the doors off 20 somethings to this day.

The player that sticks out most in my head. is Travis Henry. That final drive against Arkansas in 98 was the hardest running I've ever saw in person and I've been to a bunch of games in my life.

I met Condredge Holloway in '74 when he and some other local athletes and celebrities played in a charity basketball game at my high school.

And I met Reggie White in '82 when I was at UT, during an Intramural basketball game against the athletes' team (the Lakers).
