Greatest Vol assistant coach?

Dan Brooks, by far, is the greatest single assistant coach in Tennessee history. To me, it isn't even close with what he accomplished here and what he put into the NFL. Without Dan Brooks, the 1990s, early 2000s Vols do not happen

Donahue was the secret behind the Bahr's success.........
Bear & a group were driving by the stadium one night after dinner. Someone said “Bear, someone left a light on in the coaches office”. Bear replied “naw, that’s Donahue in there making me a legend”.

What position group did Coach Knuckle oversee?
How dare you, sir. He commanded that tight end room, ran a first class recruiting operation, and mastered Twitter. We may never see his kind again. Generational talent, Brian was.

Are we talking at the time, or based on their overall careers? If the latter, I'd throw Jon Gruden's name in there.

Ken Donahue, if you watched the 1985 Sugar Bowl you saw a master at work on defense !

If you're talking in my lifetime as a fan (since the early 90s), it is Cutcliffe and there isn't even a close second.

I didn’t see any mentions for DC Larry Lacewell. At UT for 2 years before heading to the Cowboys. Kicked off the “Decade of Dominance” in ‘90 and ‘91.

I heard Golesh was the bad cop and Huep was the good cop. I think every team needs that dynamic

Monte Kiffin has to be the most decorated in our history. As a pure Assistant.

You could say Gruden as GAC, for his resume' and UT hiring legends

Ed Orgeron with a National Title

Phillip Fulmer many wins and National Title too.

... I don't have to necessarily like it. Just identifying "greatest" measurably.
