I am a gator and I listed my greatest Vol players as:
O- Manning
D- John Henderson( I am a Jag and love watching him) On a side note with John Henderson, Tony Dungy once said that he is the greatest 3 gap player he has ever seen.

On to the SEC.

O-1-Wuerffel 1A-Manning 3-Bo Jackson
D- 1-Jack Youngblood 2-Seymore 3-Al Wilson

I am only 33 years old and have only been into football the last 22 years or so. So I am sure some of the old timers will come up with some good ones.

My top three are
3. Herschel Walker his junior year, which was the year he won the Heisman and imo was the year he deserved it least.
2. Walker his soph year.
3. Walker his freshman year.

He should have won three Heismans.

Hahah.. Rice - he wasn't even one of the best 2 receivers this past year. Vaughn? Tennessee has had 2 better kickers than him and that's just UT not other SEC teams. And Kevin was good but not in the same league as Wilson.

Rice was somewhat unstoppable IMO

I put Burnett in just to get the Defense fired up & motivated.... Wilson could probaly do that just as well

I cant remember any of the kickers names but the guy at South Carolina this year might be one of the best ever

These my not be the best players but they are the ones I had the most fun watching

Not sure what games you watched Rice play in - maybe against Kentucky? He was hot and cold. Sometimes he just was plain bad.

I think Wilhoit and Jeff Hall both had better numbers than Vaughn but I could be wrong. I will always remember Vaughn for missing 5 FGs against LSU.

Georgia has had some good kickers over the past 6 years.

You could make a case for Meachem over Rice, c'mon. And Danny Wuerffel above Peyton? Someone gonna list Rex Grossman, too? You guys are all cracking me up... there's been tons of players come through the SEC better than that.

I was more impressed with Meachem and Bowe rather than Rice. Rice was awesome his freshman year then the hype kinda died down.

Bowe had 4 100 yard games in 3 full seasons

Rice had 11 in 21 games

Rice was also the only playmaker on a crappy team with hardly any talent.

Bowe was on a team loaded with talent and didn't get to shine as early.

Meachem was hurt by a horrible QB situation, injuries, and just bad coaching.

Either way - I don't think either of these 3 receivers even deserves to be on this list.

O= Herschel Walker. In my years of watching football, i dont think ive ever seen a more naturally talented, dominating runner. He was a man among boys when he played. He outclassed Bo Jackson imo, which is no easy feat.

On D, i would have to pick big John Henderson. I never saw Reggie play, so i cant put him on here as my choice. John Henderson was absolutely dominant. He played with a ferocity that is rare. Probably the guy from the SEC that'd id least like to meet in a dark alley.

The only reason I picked Wuerffel over Manning is because I felt he was the perfect college QB. He made all the throws that Spurrier always wanted. Also I keep in mind that my question was based on the college level. No one threw the fade better than him. imo

Also I would put Deon Grant in there at safety, and one could argue Jamal Lewis pre-injury in 1998 over McFadden. If he stayed healthy, he could've been the next Walker or Bo.
