Greatest ambassadors for UT

Reggie White being on any list amuses me. Just go read some historical comments attributed to him, especially around the time his church in Knoxville burned. I have little doubt he was a good man, but I think he may have disqualified himself from this list based on my memory of some of that history. Didn't he turn his back on the Knoxville community completely?

I’m sure people will laugh but I think JG is going to finish as a great VFL. Especially if he finishes with a decent season. He hasn’t won much but is there a better example of perseverance, repeatedly taking punches to the gut yet still standing and competing?

Yes, I laughed. A bit presumptuous....

When the Knoxville media made a big deal out of the arson investigation, which inhibited local giving to help them rebuild, Green Bay fans were generous in helping with that cause. Once I realized that, I understood how he felt. What good things Reggie did in his life outweighs what "amuses" you, at least in my eyes.

Maybe needs time if he becomes a dominant force in the league, but I would put Derek Barnett in the conversation.

There was a helluva lot more to it than that. It was obvious who was right and wrong in the end too. He was likely duped, but I think he ran down Knoxville in a pretty mean-spirited manner if what was reported being said by him is true. Refused to return, didn't he?

Got it. Guess I read the first paragraph of the OPs opening post wrong, where he used the term "non athletes".

Yes I’m the OP and DID say it could even be a non athlete, ie, John Ward. With that said the ‘ambassador’ should have made a major contribution to or had a huge impact to UT athletics.

I don't think non-athletes or non-coaches can be Vol Ambassadors....JMO. I don't care for David Keith either which is more my bias than anything.
