I've been around for 18 years, and have been watching the Vols since Heath Shuler's last year(at least that's how far back I have memories), and can never remember us being on CBS 3 times in the last 4 weeks, even in the 1990's. Are they intentionally trying to embarrass us, or am I just crazy?

Yes, I am crazy, but still, why are we getting so much national airtime on a broadcast network?

You have to admit that if you look at it objectively, the prospect that Vandy and Kentucky could conceivably beat us in the same year for the first time since before a lot of us were born would be a somewhat compelling story line.

At the risk of being lazy, does anybody know the last time KY and Vandy beat us in the same year?

I think it was either 1977, or sometime in that decade.

Yea, I'll admit, people like to see major college football programs crash and burn(see 2007 Notre Dame)

I'll bet you have to go back 50+ years.

Just checking, & they both beat us in 1964. I think that is the last time.

Hmmm, I hoping that some historian will come in this thread and set us straight.

Edit: Thanks XTennesseeX

It's because the teams UT played were in the top 10, (Florida, Auburn; Georgia, Alabama, will be). When UT stops playing nationally ranked teams the TV exposure will stop.

The games up through this point were set before the start of the season, so I don't think it's an embarrassment of Tennessee thing.

I don't think most anyone foresaw this season turning it out the way it has- before this season. they would have seemed like good pickups.

That being said, I hope this is it for 2008 televison coverage. It wouldn't surprise me at all however if UT Vandy is picked up nationally if the Dores continue to perform. Same with Kentucky if it seems like the streak might fall (even though Florida over Kentucky would be the new streak, so that might not be the best angle).

It's not so much us, it's just the SEC. No one can deny that we're the powerhouse of all conferences. Thus, we're getting more TV exposure. Even the teams in the cellar of the SEC east...

You can be as angry as you want about us being on national TV... for being on the west coast, I'm happy at EVERY chance I get to see the Vols play (Any sport!)

When did Las Vegas become part of the west coast? Did California finally fall into the ocean? :eek:lol:

I love being able to watch the Vols, but I may get suspiscious if the Kentucky & Vandy games are also on national TV.
