Ok Guys and Gals

I know some of you out there in Vol Land know more about the park than I do.

I have walked a lot of trails like Rainbow Falls, Alum Caves Bluff, Kephart Prong, and Grotto Falls just to name a few

I have been up past Laurel Falls and seen the old growth timber. Been to Caves Cove many times and the old loggers homes at Elkmont.

Are there any other old homplaces, cemetaries, or historical sites inside the park, accessible only by hiking trail that any of you have found interesting?

Looking forward to doing the Albright Trail off Manddron Bald Trail this go around

The Greenbrier area, right outside of Gatlinburg, is a wealth of old, stone walls, less crowded trails and another longer trail to LeConte not everyone knows about. Just check it out!

Is that the Trillium Gap trail? I've done that once - what out for llama droppings!

I think I've done all the LeConte trails - generally went Alum Cave for the directness.

Used to have a friend that worked there - I stayed for free in the worker cabins in exchange for making beds and washing dishes. A couple times we went during the winter (when closed) and had the whole dang place to ourselves - it...was...awesome.

My friends and I got the bright idea to come down the front of the Chimney Tops rather than back down the trail. We went right off the front and made our own trail. We knew the creek would tell us when we hit the bottom and where roughly the road was.

We hit the bottom and started back up. We couldn't find the road and were like WTF? it has to be here somewhere. We could hear cars. Turns out we came up exactly where the little tunnel is and were actually right over the road.

I wish we had PMs......

I have a very strong tie to Mt. LeConte. Spent a good deal of my youth on top of that magical mountain....

If you can stand a strenuous hike and you have 7 or 8 free hours, you could make a Big Orange pilgrimage to Rocky Top. I've done that a couple of times. Great views from Spence Field and then again on Rocky Top. Another 15 minutes past Rocky Top will put you on Thunderhead. Not much of a view from there though. How many Vol fans get to actually say they've been on Rocky Top? It's pretty cool to use when somebody tries to pull the "true fan" card.

Me and my friends did this as well. Slid most of the way it seemed.

Y'all can hate me for being a BAMA fan if you want, but I love East Tennessee...not just GSMNP. It's in my heart, in my blood and in my soul. I'd be happy to die there.

Well, come on up! We can always arrange this for a Bama fan.
