Oh, so I'm the consipiracy theorist in all of this because I don't believe that Fulmer has been holding secret meetings with old players and telling them to be cold to Kiffin?
No, you're just too naive on this issue to not see that what Fulmer has done in not welcoming Kiffin influences former players... and that reality is bad for the program. No conspiracy theory is needed to observe that Fulmer has yet to welcome our new coach and those actions are reflected in public comments and public opinion.
What you and I think, of course, is irrelevant. But what CPF does matters.
First, Fulmer needs to accept that he lost his job because he lost too many games and didn't win championships. Second, he needs to demonstrate to his former players how to welcome a new coach. That's what's in the best interest of Tennessee football and anyone who can put the program above himself. I understand that may be asking too much of Fulmer, but I am politely suggesting it's worth his consideration at this stage.
It's time for CPF to be held accountable for his actions with respect to Kiffin. It's that simple.
Personally, (and I could give a rat's arse if you ignore what I think), UT ought to throw him off campus if he can't be professional enough to welcome Lane. Again, see Coach Majors for an example of the way he should be supporting Kiffin.
It's not like Kiffin stabbed him in the back to get the job. And, frankly, until witnessing his recent behavior, I never believed that Fulmer did that to Majors. Yet, it is Fulmer's actions towards Coach Lane Kiffin that make that whole ugly matter seem far more reasonable.
Moreover, I must wonder whether John Majors was right about Fulmer all along.
If Fulmer doesn't Man Up, my bet is that other UT fans will start putting these pieces of the puzzle together just as I have. And, you can look for someone in the local media to facilitate that outcome.
I'd like to see CPF remembered for his contributions to the program, which I consider substantial. But how he is remembered and his legacy at UT is still being judged.
Let's make no mistake about that.
