Nice that the new staff recognized this kid gave his all on the field. He deserves it.

This almost brings tears to my eyes. I'm so happy for Inky. He's never let circumstances dampen his spirit. One of the best Volunteers in the history of the program. I know you're not, Inky, but I am regretful that we never got to see you live up to your true potential as a player, but I am guilty of being selfish in that I am thrilled you are guiding the young men on this football team now and leading by your example.

Lane Kiffin and co. need a big round of applause. Great move.

On a sidenote, is the lead position a new position? I have never heard of a lead grad assistant before.

This staff doesn't strike me as sentimental. They see something in Inky that they feel is valuable. Remember that Monte has a history of turning former DBs into great coaches. Kudos to Inky for having a great attitude and showing the new staff that he has something to contribute.

Hopefully he will learn as much as possible under Monte and he can jump start his coaching career by being a part of the "Monte Kiffin Coaching Tree"...

Could not happen to a better kid.

Agreed. Excellent move by Kiffin. No doubt UT players respect Inky, and it was a smart thing to do.

I have never heard of a lead graduate assistant either. Would all other GA's answer to Inky? I really don't know.

I tend to agree. I think some of what they see in him was a kid who left it all on the field, literally. The staff knows the kids will relate to him and his example.

Couldn't happen to a better guy. I hope that Inky gets a job in coaching if that is the path he wants to take. He is definately someone who gave his all for the Vols.

Didn"t he visit Smith with Monte? This may have been Monte"s call! Either way great news!

Great news. I don't look at this as a charity/PR move by the coaching staff either. Based on their history of actions, they truly believe he will give a large contribution.

Inky was actually a key element in how we got a few recruits
Correct if wrong, but I think he played for Darrius Myles Dad in H.S.
