I know some people are scratching their heads over him b/c of his low profile, but just keep in mind, out of all the guys they signed, Williams is probably the one that the staff has recruited the longest. Barnes offered him immediately after getting the job and learning about him through Des Oliver.

They watched him play a ton this summer, had him to camp where they obviously saw him up close and spent time with him. Just in short, this is a kid that they probably saw as much as anyone they signed with the possible exception of Fulkerson and pretty obviously liked what they saw.

Very likely wasn't free to Yale

Ivy League schools don't offer athletic or academic scholarships. Only based on financial need. And tuition is steep. 4 years will easily top $250k. Painful to say the least. Frankly, I don't think parents look into the environment at Ivy schools closely enough before sending their kids there. I know I didn't. If I had it to do all over again, I'd have sent my child to another university.

Actually, Yale is a grant school and students do not pay a tuition, but they are required to many of activities for the free tuition. Most ivy league schools have so much money that the US Gov had ruled that they start using it or start paying taxes on it........free tuition was the answer.
