Grandpa DeBord is destroying the offense.

That true of all hires in the world.. If not .. You are called a former employee

My meaning was Butch is an offensive guy, therefore MD has to adhere more strictly to Butch's wishes.. Shoop I'm guessing not so much..

Briles > DeBord

I'll tolerate the controversy if that's what it takes to uncork this offense.

Telling someone to calm down after that pathetic excuse of football played last Thursday shows the level of mediocrity of some fans. By calling him an ass hat I would assume that you are ok with the level of play and think that it was acceptable under a 4th yr? head coach and a 3rd yr starter at qb? That couldnt produce more than 3 points until wellll into the 2nd half? You think this is ok? Raise the bar, buddy.

How are you "raising the bar"? If Butch doesn't get the job done, powers that be will make the change. Til then, the whining and screeching is background noise.

You'll tolerate it because your career won't be on the line. No school president would sign off on that and Tennessee specially not. Butch went beyond himself to handle Title IX issues correctly and they're still 2 mil in the hole. Gonna just grab patient zero and throw him in there? :loco:

well with Dave Hart not leaving til next year, depending on who they hire, no matter what happens this year, i'd say he's definitely hear thru 2017 no matter what.

the timing of Hart's retirement, if this season goes south, couldn't be worse.

The best way to mitigate IX issues is to report sexual assault and harassment to off campus authorities that have the the experience needed to investigate such cases . The universities only role should be aiding law enforcement in the investigation. School role is to enforce the rules of conduct.

Instead of judging his offense on an entire year... One of the best offensive years we have ever had, you choose to babble and throw a fit over a single game in which we used about 1/3 of the playbook..... Makes sense

If that was 1/3 of the playbook, we're in deep trouble.

If we had half the offensive punch Baylor has had the past few years I doubt we win less than 10 games a year counting the bowl game. We have had some pretty dang good defensive units.

Is there a possibility that Debord, by getting to the booth 3 hrs prior to game time, went to sleep during the game?

You really think Butch didn't know the offensive gameplan and which plays were on the call sheet to be called?
If he did, bet he wouldn't admit it. We all better hope he didn't know the O game plan. It was the worst O game plan since, no, even Dooley had better game plans. Butch is actually not even up to Dooley standards. Coach Dooley moved up for God's sake. He's still in the NFL, coaching receivers for the big D.

you are deluding yourself if you think jones was "shocked" by anything debord did or does. His thumb is on the o at all times. It is his offense and they're running it his way.

Also, jones like most hc's chose the starting qb. Whatever dobbs real and perceived limitations are.... Debord has to deal with.

As far as firing anyone goes.... Will not and should not happen during the season unless someone does something really bad.... Like a severe ncaa violation or a felony.
if that was his thumb, as you put it, we really are in trouble!!!!!!! Think about it dude. He has lost a lot of support from the fulmer era fans. Coach herman from houston destroyed oklahoma on national tv. Destroyed ok. Hear that? We lost to ok last year because our coach has never, never been or even seen the big time. Ut has got what they paid for. They need to spend some more bucks. $$$$$$$$

No, actually his Depends were reaching their max and he thought he should change before the game started. The problem was he walked into the wrong dressing room and the apst players started laughing so hard he passed out, falling in the toilet he had maneuvered against loosing the game plan down the tubes.

You guys see Debord's comments from the media session today? He sounds so lost.

Mike DeBord | Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks | Second Season

(On the tackles last week and how they will handle Virginia Tech)
“Anytime you get your tackles out there one-on-one, it is hard for them. Especially when you had wide rushers like they did last week and they were in the odd front. We will see rushers like that this week in the bare front. We have to do a good job of that and we have things that will help them. We will continue to do that. I think upfront the guys know they were inconsistent. We weren’t just inconsistent at center, tackle and guards; we were just inconsistent. In order to become a better unit we have to become consistent upfront. It’s like someone said, every week we got better up front last year and now this group has to do that.”

That's your excuse for our tackles soaking cork, that Appy's d-line scheme was hard for them? And we're going to see a similar scheme this week but NOW you've "got things that will help them." Where were these "things that will help them" last week? Did you just figure them out this week, guy? This guy gives me zero confidence. Yet I still took the vols and gave the points cause I'm a Vols fan and therefore a masochist. It's hard out there, folks.

It's one game against a really well coached team that has been building for MANY YEARS. Initially, obviously not very thrilled with how the game went but if it comes down to the end of the season and we are at 13-0 than what difference does it make. Win is a win especially in week one. So yeah, CALM DOWN.:hi:

With all the firepower on offense, it was truly disgusting watching the App State embarrassment. I know Butch had to be shocked as were the 100,00 plus paying fans. Someone please tell Deboring that it is 2016, not 1985. If VT ends up with a win over UT, and the Vols look like crap again offensively, DeBord needs to hit the road and Butch needs to go with him for making such a bonehead decision to hire DeStupid in the first place.:thud:

Wow, its all in the timing... said the same thing over and over and got flamed and told to quit spewing my venom.. you get 16 likes... ain't life great!

DeBord did nothing like 1985. If so, the Vols would have pounded App St into the dirt.....

I actually wish he would coach like a grandpa. Line up with these running backs, give them a lead blocker, and run it down opponents throats....

Let's see some play action. Throw in the wrinkles of the zone read and option.

I say get more grandpa. Because now we have grandpa trying to call plays to Butch's nonsensical BS offense. Problem with Butch's nonsensical offense, is that it doesn't have an identity. They know not what they are doing....

While not presently stylish, Grandpa football is winning football. Ask Alabama. With good talent and execution it is hard to stop a well choreographed blocking scheme and a big back running downhill on you particularly in the Fourth Quarter. Mix in some play action passes down field and you will win quite a few games. Grandpas like Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, Joe Gibbs, Bill Belechik and Don Shula have done pretty well with it. Newer grandpas like Jim Harbaugh will at Michigan as well. We won several national titles with it. If Butch is going to play vanilla, he needs to change his interior linemen for some big and nasty guys like Chad Clifton and Antone Davis and find a Fullback. We have had some good ones here. Everybody needs to chill out and let the coaches and players rebound this weekend. ASU is a helluva lot better than given credit for and it was a classic trap game - fawning media, big point spread, upcoming marquee game, vanilla playbook, small school with a big chip on their shoulders and nothing to lose.
