From GVX: Kiffin apologized today.
It's all good: Kiffin apologizes by phone to Pahokee; Vols are welcome 'any day, any time' : Football : GoVolsXtra.com
This is the best quote in my opinion:
Crawford also said he believes Kiffin’s comments about Pahokee were taken out of context.
“I don’t think the words were from the heart,” Crawford said of Kiffin’s comments from the recruiting celebration. “I think he was caught up in the minute and just said something. I don’t think it came from his heart. I really don’t. I’ve done things like that myself. After saying them, you find out what you said and how it affects the community or a person you either said them to or about.”
Right. I read that as an admonition to be a little sensitive, as a rival fan poster, to how people might take things.
But at the same time I don't read that as license for UT fans to relentlessly call fans or coaches names. Which is occuring with increasing frequency whenever we rival fans have the temerity to either defend ourselves or assail the new UT coach.
Given some of the names thrown around here for "gators" in general, for Meyer, for Tebow, etc., I don't really think calling Kiffin "Coach Big Mouth" (CBM), which is clearly a bit toungue in cheek, runs afoul of that rule.
I could be wrong, though. Happens all the time. Am I not allowed to call him CBM? I think that's a bit harsh, especially relative to what others on here call, well, others on here. See e.g. me being called a jackass or an asshat, both of which occured in the last day.
Of course UF has their share of .... umm fans.
