Grammar Nazi Request.

I suppose this thread is necessary. Are the mods supposed to keep it in the football forum?

I have to blame my penchant of grammar and spelling on a boss I had for a long time. He was the VP in charge of manufacturing for the company we worked for. He did the hiring, firing and everything in between for all our facilities. This is a company that had 60,000 employees worldwide at it's peak.

I was in his office one morning as he was going through applications, with resumes attached, for a plant manager opening. He would glance down one and throw it in the trash. This would continue for a bit and he would lay one off to his left. Then, back to pitching a few in the trashcan and lay one off to his left again. After he had thrown about 20 in the trash while placing three or four to his left, my curiosity had risen to the point of questioning his quick assessment of applicants.

He told me that he trashed an application as soon as he came across the first spelling, grammar or punctuation error. Most of our communication was in writing at that time and he would not hire anyone that he could not communicate with in a written manner.

Errors of this type are not limited to Vol Nation. To this day, when I'm reading an article, news item, etc. on the internet, as soon as I come to a misspelled word or grammatical error, I dismiss the entire piece and quit reading.

I make an occasional error but I am not published. And, some are intentional. I have never been a valid victorian.

What about mistakes by the publisher that don't directly reflect the intelligence of the author?
