Thinking about getting a GPS and wanted everyone's suggestions. I don't want to spend a lot of money for all of the bells and whistles, I just want it to get me from point A to point B.

that's what the wife has and she travels quite often all over the US. Got the base model (I think it's the 200?) and has no complaints.

Personally, I never get lost but I can see why some would need it :p (if I was to ever get lost I would just use Google maps on my BB)

We bought a Sony for $100 during the big sale around Christmas. Literally everyone I know got one this year and everyone is jealous of my Sony thus far. The screen is a bit bigger, and it is really easy to operate. Much easier than the Garmin as far as I have seen.

I have a couple year old Magellan that works fine. The Garmin's usually get good marks. The TomToms are well liked but I've heard some complaints about their maps/points of interest.

Like most things, they all pretty much do the same thing and any of the top names will be good - the differences are pretty minor.

I got my wife a garmin nuvi 260W (wide screen). The only bell or whistle it has is that it has what they call "text to speech" which means it actually tells you the street name you should turn on. I recommend getting that feature.

Amazon has that model for less that $200 bucks now.

I have been very pleased with our Garmin.

The guy who founded Garmin is a UT grad. Not really a reason to necessarily get one, but an interesting tidbit.

can't see how that's possible since they're all really easy to use for simple directions. Heck, my remote control is more difficult (it is a pretty BA remote though)

Magellan Road mates and Maestros are good for around $150.00.Plus you get a few bells and whistles.They announce street names,loaded with AAA info,usually 6,000,000 points of interest.

Just bought the Garmin Nuvi 200W at West Marine beside West Town Mall. Simplest version they have but it works great. $130.

Does your phone have an app available? I used Tele-Nav and it was awesome. $10 a month for the service and you always have your GPS with you. It has audible turn-by-turn directions with auto route correct if you decide to try that shortcut you know. You can also go online and enter any info and it will wirelessly sync with your phone.

Thats the one I have. I use anywhere from 10 to 20 times a day at work and have very few problems.

My phone has a GPS app on it, but it won't pick up a satellite. I haven't really spent a lot of time trying to figure it out because I would never really use GPS. The main reason I am wanting one is for vacation and for the wife to use.

I am open to any suggestions about how to get the GPS on my phone to work though.

You may or may not be in luck. Your phone has built in GPS and your provider offers this. But.....your BB isn't listed on the device list. Give them a call and check it out.

Plus, if you don't like it you can cancel the service and you're out nothing.

My Garmin that's as about as big as my wallet successfully navigated me from maryville TN to Newport, RI without a hitch.
