Gotta Love Phil Fulmer

I think it is tough to look in from the outside and see all the problems. I also think it is difficult to understand every facet of what we go through.

SC- They played to our weaknesses in the second half. They put a poor defensive line and a young secondary on the field for a very long time. I blame the offense and coaching for not being mentally prepared for the second half.

AL- Torched. Poor execution. I don't care what they say, it was poor game planning. They could not match the intensity level of AL. The scariest part of this whole team for me is that in the last 5 years we fold when we are down.

FL- I think the same is said for this game. Mentally and Physically unprepared. Played well enough to still be in it until the game changing moment, (fumble) , and then mailed it in.

CAL- It comes down to the fact that they wanted it more than us.

I think we have gotten a bit to complicated. I think we lack some fundamentals (tackling). I can deal with some of those things.

I miss the PRIDE.

fulmer, chavis, sander it does not matter we will complain until we win another NC. granted that is why i love ut football, the passion and the drive, but then again chill out until we get hard nose players who will give all on every down now matter the situation. LIO sorry about My grammer but can i get a kiss you seem to give everyone else.
regarding the "give all on every down" thing....very few "get it" on that level coming out of HS....you have to be "coached up" to that......You know, I think that hits the nail on the head with the many that are upset with the coaching recieved at UT, bit I don't think you meant to illustrate THAT.

I'm just glad I got to ya before you did something to hurt yourself.

:eek:lol:

i know away from the thread but i'm looking for more attention in the future, life now is all good:yahoo:

now back on the thread: fulmer is going to be ok, how many times at a job does someone go through a bad time just to come out on top later when their lifeline and passion is on the line

I have been a Phil backer since he became coach...but there is a downward trend happening over the last 5 years. That is a FACT. Year after year of poor tackling, year after year of not being able to run the ball when you need to. These are the basics! Our players are not being coached well. The place you have seen improvement has been the energy and work ethic Trooper pounds into the group he coaches. It will be at least the end of next year before Phil would ever be fired, 7 million buy out etc....So I am hoping he can open his eyes and have a come to Jesus experience about what needs to be done and have the guts to do it before it is too late.

I Have Been A Fulmer Supporter For A Long Time
I Am Rooting Them On Day In And Day Out And Every Second Of The Game..
However..enough Is Enough..
Lost To Fl By 39
Lost To Freaking Bama By 24
Got Lucky At Home Against Sc After Establishing A Fake 21 Pt Lead Due To Lucky Turnovers.

I Love Fulmer
I Love Chavis
I Love Cut

It's Still Time For A Change..
Through And Through.
Except For Trooper

If we clean house I doubt Trooper would stay unless we made him OC or something. But even then, he was being looked at for HC jobs last season and will probably move on to that.

I live near Notre Dame. I have seen them go through a number of coaches in the short time I have lived here. I have never liked ND but thats a different story.. I am glad UT doesnt go through coaches like ND but phil is not a new coach. I dont blame everything on the coaches but someone has to take responsibilty. The responsibilty ultimatley falls on the Head Coach. In this case phil fulmer. I have said it in previous posts. I am not that upset about the losses ,its they way we lost. To lose is one thing but to not even be competitive is another. There is no reason with the level of talent on this team UT should not be competitive. There is no excuse for getting blown out by an unranked alabama team. I respect fulmer for his past acomplishments but if he cant get the job done its time to find someone who can.

I agree with what zealot said about responsibility. Unless you are happy with mediocrity at best, you should be mad and dissappointed. Who else is there to blame but fulmer? If the fan base isn't happy then maybe it will show and something will be done. If we sit around with our mouths shut and patt Phil on the back then we may never get out of this hole. If you aren't speaking out against Fulmer right now then I question your alleigance to tennessee and your passion for a great vol team. it makes me mad when I keep hearing people take up for Fulmer and knock those who speak out against his pathetic excuse for coaching. Tennessee deserves better and should demand more from the man that is supposed to be leading the team. if you don't like to hear the truth and are content with mediocrity then go root for Ole Miss, where the party in "The Grove" is just as important as the game. I'm not going to accept it and will continue to fight for a change.

Hey, I changed my tune I have to say. I'm behind our team all the way no matter what. If we lose out, I'm still behind them all the way. I've always been behind them but yes I've said me fair share about getting rid of CPF but that's over. If MH gets rid of him then so be it. If he doesn't so be it. I mean hey, we could be like Marshall and ND! At least we are in the hunt, we just have to actually take let the dog go hunt and kill anything that's in our paths...so to speak :). Looking forward to the rest of the season and off season.....GO VOLS!!!!!

gtg it's time for my meds :)

Wait till we get hard nosed players? We're in the top 10 in recruiting almost every year! I remember 2005 we were in the 20's, but other than that it's been top 10. Why is it the Vols can't get it done with top recruits and other teams get it done with less talent? I've been behind Fulmer all these years until this year. It seem's to me we start the season ranked very high and always disappoint, and now we're out of the top 25, again. So if that's just bashing every little flaw, so be it. We've been going up and down, year in and year out ,never getting to where we should be.Maybe if Fulmer would quit going to the Titans for pointers and go to the Patriots instead, we wouldn't be having these discussions.

I don't really remember too many people, if any, saying that Randy Sanders couldn't coach quarterbacks. It certainly wasn't why he got fired and wasn't why everyone hated him. Sure he helped ruin Erik Ainge's head in 2005, but that wasn't just him. Ironically enough.
How did he ruin Ainge's head?
