Are you really comparing this guy to a first ballot Hall of Famer and two Heisman winners?I know how he's going to do.
He comes into a better situation than he could possibly imagine. This offense was designed not for Nico's skill set, but for Joey's.
Could Brett Favre succeed here? Johnny Manziel? Baker Mayfield?
If yes, then Joey will.
SO FAR he seems to meet the character levels associated with CJH. How far his abilities can carry us is TBD, but he looks like a guy that gets to slap that placard above the door leaving the locker room with a straight face. My minimum requirement for support. Just hope he approaches his ceiling, something the last guy did not do, at least here. One year guys can earn VFL status. Lifetime fans can fail.I'm a horrible judge of character.
I offer as "Exhibit A" my ex-wife. Or Nico, whom I was initially high on. Both proved to be not worthy of my loyalty.
That being said, I like almost everything I've seen about this guy. There's just something there that says "I have yet to write the final chapter."
I hope it has a happy ending. For all of us. Let's hope he paints his masterpiece in Orange and White.
So we'll see.
He a Big Boy! Just might be what the Dr. ordered!I work at a golf course in Weaverville North Carolina. Joey was up for the day to go to a wedding and was passing some time with a morning round of golf. Super nice and very humble guy. He said he was ready for the challenge and couldn’t wait to get started. Thinks he’ll be a great fit in Heup’s system.. Seemed like an awesome person! Made my day!

Yeah man. That half a day he took off in the summer before camp starts is probably worth 2 wins this year.He must have an amazing grasp of the playbook to feel good enough to spend that amount of time on a round of golf and a wedding.
Well said.[...]

Your F-I-L may be one of the many unsung heroes of WW2. The fact that he had a replica of Barb's Battle Flag (I'm assuming, since the original hangs in the Sub Force Museum in Groton, CT) is significant. And what with him being a Torpedoman, he would have played a direct role in sending a lot of Japanese steel to the bottom. It would take a lot of space to sum it all up here, but go read up on the USS Barb (SS-220). She was one of the top-scoring subs in WW2, and her crew was the only one to conduct ground operations in WW2 (blew up a train).Well said.
BTW: In what era did you serve?
My father-in-law made 9 cruises as a TM in WW2. In my mind I can still see his battle flag vividly, hanging in the hallway of their house. It was kinda eye-catching...
