No one on VN knows what really happen but there is always chatter about someoone being a candidate for a job agents work the system to get their clients the best deals because it pads their pockets as well.

I believe Butch is happy here and wants to right this ship and be a tall figure in Tennessee Football History!!! JMHO :)

I don't think this at all. From what I've gathered from Larry and others, Jones' goal is to coach in the NFL. I think the constant pressure of coaching at UT is making him miserable and he would jump ship in a second if given a decent opportunity.

I don't know that the NFL has ever been on his radar, at least not from a HC position.

I do think he underestimated how difficult this league was. And that you can't talk your way around everything bad that happens. And most of the time the best thing to do is say little and go back to work.

Not if you are the coach of Champions of Life!

If not mistaken, it was a "friend" of his agent that sent out some feelers. That's how it works in college football.

But, Jones was stuck because of the high buyout and he wasn't a proven commodity to justify that cost.

So you heard this from a friend of a friend's uncle who knew the agent's friend? sounds like unverifiable gossip to me.

If not gossip,...

The Purdue rumor was debunked as coming from a fake twitter account.

But a Purdue-type job is where he'll end up. Cincinnati may have been the ceiling for him. I think last year was his shot and he blew it. I don't think UT fans will have the patience to sit through a few more 4-5 loss seasons, patiently waiting for the stars to align again with a Senior QB returning, two stud RB's, studs all over the defense including a couple of "could have gone pro" Seniors and a 1st round NFL'er at DE.

Purdue, Texas Tech, Illinois, those are the types of final destinations he'll see before slowly dying on the vine.
