In listening on the radio and reading on here, there is a lot of excitement on many of the incoming freshman....

I hear a lot about Jackson, Myles, Oku, Brown, Rogers......but it seems like Teague and Gordon were two big time recruits that could make an immediate impact, yet they seem to have lost some of their luster as far as offseason news goes.

My question is where do Teague and/or Gordon fit into the mix? Does anyone think these guys are going to get some significant playing time this year?

Teague yes, Gordon will probably spend most of this year with Special Teams.

And the only reason that is so for Gordon is because he is at one of our few positions with quality depth. No knock on his ability.

Let me guess why you posted this.... the two guys you mentioned are from TN and you think TN kids are the best thing since sliced bread?? Although both of these guys will eventually contribute, I would rather HEAR about the bigger recruits we got (Bryce Brown, Oku, Janzen Jackson) than the kids we got from TN just because they are TN boys.

If it were up to TN homers who back TN high school football, we'd sign 26 players from TN every year... thus getting 1 NFL quality player every 5-6 years.:dunno:

Teague-will play this year IMO

They will both "play" this year. Teague will have a hard time adjusting from QB to WR that's JMO of course. I see him changing over to D after this season.

Gordon will see time on special teams and maybe get a shot a shot at some time in Dime packages. I'd say the chance of him taking a RS season is about 30%. Teague taking a RS is about 5%, basically only if he gets injured.

Nuke has the edge on him due to having played WR in high school, even though he played QB also.

I went to school with Eric Gordon at Hillsboro in Nashville. He was a Jr. when I was a Sr. He was an excellent player for the Burros. Hopefully he can do some good things for UT. Can't wait for football to start!

I remember when we took Gordon from Bama, everyone was very excited about him..I guess with some of the other high profile guys we got he kind of got lost in the shuffle

People really talk about Teague alot though

Yeah I seen E. Gordon walking around school wearing a leather Bama jacket on several occasions. Everyone called him lil E. I figured if he went anywhere it would be Bama.

Both these kids were highly recruited and thought of players. Teague was recruited by Florida and Alabama and Gordon was recruited by Bama and Oklahoma. To me, it doesn't matter where they are from. If 25 kids from TN have the talent and ability the coaching staff is looking for, then I say take them. Bryce Brown is from Wichita KS, which is not exactly a HS football hotbed. HS recruiting involves alot of luck in addition to identifying talent. No one knows how kid will react once they are on campus, whether they are from TN, KS, or a HS football powerhouse like Pahokee or Miami Northwestern.

Easy there hoss. Pretty sure VN has enough storage space to discuss all UT players. You're welcome to your BB, Oku and JJ threads but some people like to discuss other aspects of UT football.

Understood... trust me, I love every player on UTs team. However, my point is that alot of Tennessee fans put waaay too much emphasis on Tennessee high school football players and signees. Just like CLK said, we don't have alot of talent. So even the most talented players (see Chris Donald) from our state are usually over-rated. I firmly believe Marlon Brown will be a good receiver, but not a dominant receiver. As for Teague and Gordon, I don't feel like either one are future NFL players but they will be solid college players by their JR or SR seasons.:salute:

As a proud Tennessee "homer", I hope they both prove you wrong. :ermm:

all these newcomers all get to start all over again just like moving up to varsity some better than others.but this is college not neighborhood schools these players all come in all equal and that is the beauty of it is with what these coaches are spelling out not just to them the team the freshmans the walkons and the future vol-lers.this is why we are all up in the news and all of the lopers coming in on our sites main issue is,its not they hate just ut or kiffin they hate what there future holds they are worried, concerned, confused,n ahh,and mainly jealous of what is now one if not the biggest selling points out there and they are all of the above and then sum.lopers beware were back future vol-lers r coming

It is the University of TENNESSEE, there is nothing wrong with wanting an update on the local boys. We (Tenn homers) watch these kids grow up and play in our communities, so excuse some of us for wanting to hear how they are doing! Where are you from? Your negative attitude towards people from Tennessee suggests maybe Bammer of Florible.

in either case, :finger3:
