I like to subscribe to pulic Google calendars to put the schedules of teams I follow right in my own calendar. Unfortunately most of them are poorly done. Changes and game times aren't updated, TV information is omitted, etc. (For example, the one I'm currently using took two months to remove Northern Illinois from this year's schedule.) And when you do find one that's okay, they're only valid for one season at a time (e.g., "2007 Tennessee football schedule"), so next season you have to go out and look for one all over again.

Does anyone use one of these calendars that they like? I'm looking for one that:

1. Includes game times and TV information as it becomes available.
2. Incorporates changes in a timely manner (e.g., Northern Illinois).
3. Includes future seasons' games as far out as is available.
4. Includes other important dates besides games -- e.g., the O&W game, start of spring & fall practices, signing day, etc.
5. Continues for season after season within the same calendar so that you don't have to find and subscribe to antother one.

(And what would be perfect is a Tennesee calendar that included both football and basketball schedule, but that's probably asking too much.)

If anyone is subscribed to one that they find adequate, I'd like to hear about it. I've been frustrated enough that I'd be willing to publish one publicly myself, but I'm not confident that I know where to look to find the latest information for game times, TV, etc.

This is an interesting concept. I would like to pursue this; I doubt you will find something as you described. Could you give me a link to the one you are using? I will looking into implementing this. I have been looking at google's Calendar API. So it may be possible to automate the addition of info as it becomes available. I think this would be a cool feature that Freak could incorporate into the site somehow.

Sorry; I asked a question and then failed to follow up on it. I currently use this one for UT football (link doesn't go to a web page or anything; that's the URL of the calendar itself). All that one is is just the 2007 schedule.

I'm subscribed to one for the Atlanta Braves that does a great job automatically updating game times when they change, etc.; it's incredibly useful to be able to pull out my cell phone, check the calendar, and see that ESPN has moved an upcoming Sunday game to 8 pm (for example). It would be great to have one for UT basketball/football that's so meticulously updated.

As I said, I'd be perfectly willing to publish one myself if I knew where to find the latest information about scheduling, TV info, and such. But if there's any way to automate it, that would obviously be the way to go.

For anyone still looking for this, you can subscribe to a Vols Football calendar in Google by...

- Opening Google Calendar
- clicking the "add" link below public "calendars"
- clicking the "sports" tab
- clicking "football"
- clicking "NCAAF"
- clicking "subscribe" next to Tennessee Volunteers
