Good Video Of Our New QBs

Granted that is a highlight reel, but Nance looked like more than the stars to his credit in recruiting. I was highly impressed.

After watching the Offensive Recruits video, I have to admit that Meline looks almost as fast (if not faster) at game speed than Rogers......

I thought Nance was the best QB judging by the videos given. I know the experts are saying that Bray supposedly has the biggest upside but I think Nance looks well built and seems to be pretty accurate as well. This should be an interesting battle to see who takes the reigns for the next few years. Hopefully it will work out as well as when Peyton and Brandon Stewart came to Knoxville the same year. One can always dream...

They all have good talent. In this video Bray doesnt seem to have as much zip on the ball as the other two.

After watching that, I do not think Nickie boy will be starting next year, Simms will be the man. I also think Nance and Bray are going to really be battling each other, IMO Nance has a better release, but Bray has more zip on his ball. Wow the QB position at UT looks pretty solid for the next 3-4 years. How was Nance only a 2 star?

Its good to hear everyone here like Simms after watching that video.

Both Bray and Simms seemed weaker all around than Nance, to me. Just eyeballin it based on that clip, he'd be my starter.

So what I get out of that is Bray is most likely a redshirt with good potential. I think it'll be a battle between Nance and Simms for Stephens' backup, to start.

Agreed . Lot of other factors to consider ..who learns the offense the best , checks into the right plays , who is good under pressure ( none of these guys are exactly under SEC pressure ...they have all day ! )

The coaches will favor a mobile QB given the systems CDD and CJC have run in the past . Who does that best ?

Don't get me wrong, i like Bray, but i think If any of the new QBs start this year, it will be Simms

Simms did look very good in that video. Nance, too. Bray looks raw, and skinny. His release is a mess, but he sure can rifle it.

i was checkin out some of Nance's other videos and his OL looked very small and they couldnt hold their blocks long at all so if that kid gets behind a decent line then he could be really good.

High school highlight tapes mean squat once their on campus, but that's really the first I've seen of Nance and he looked impressive.

I don't want to be Mr. Negative here (because I DO think that Bray will be a great QB in orange for us), but I wasn't too impressed with Bray's highlights.
I mean, the one huge plus I saw was his accuracy (especially when he split the zone coverage that one play).
Also, there were a few plays where he was flushed out of the pocket and he did a good job getting the ball out.
But the very first throw shown was under-thrown by a few yards, and so many of his throws were into double or triple coverage. You can't get away with that as a freshman in the SEC.
Overall, he's got the skills, but I think he'll need to redshirt his freshman year before he takes over the reigns.

I think it will be an interesting race in the near-term with Simms and Stephens and in the long-term with Bray and Nance. I think Stephens and Bray have the early advantage of having worked with Chaney longer but it is still to be seen how the playcalling is handled as X most all of it last year. If I remember correctly Dooley is an offensive guy as well
