So 7 of those 21 points came from the UGA center. So we actually only scored 14 points to their 17 (offense v offense) in the first half, as others have pointed out. Also, Kirby Smart was a huge dumbass in the 2d qtr and despite the talent advantage we could all see already, he decides to go for it on 4th down on his own 36 yard line and give us a chance to stay in the game. Credit to Chaney as he goes for the kill shot right away and dials up a great play on our first one, a 36 yard TD pass.
But beyond those two gifts, we scored 7 points in the first half.
Here are our RB #s in the first half.
Chandler:
1st Qtr: 1 yd
2d Qtr: 4 yds
1st half: 5 yds of rushing
Gray:
1st Qtr: 7 yds
2d Qtr: 0 yds
1st half: 7 yds of rushing
Our RBs had a grand total of 12 yards of rushing in the 1st half. If that half of offense doesn’t warrant some criticism, well let’s just say I disagree. If we get 14 more gifted points in the second half, well heck we’d almost win the game even if the offense didn’t do anything different so I don’t think we can just look at points on the scoreboard. Both halves of offense were pretty abysmal IMO, just the TOs magnified and made the 2d half more costly. That doesn’t mean the 1st half wasn’t bad though.
I haven’t listened to podcast yet, but I’ll likely tomorrow. Maybe our Oline played worse than even I thought and/or their D line was better than I thought. I’m curious to hear his thoughts on Chaney....not sure what else the guy could’ve done as we clearly couldn’t run the ball. Now Friend....if anyone, player or coach, on that entire team deserves some criticism thrown his way, that’d be my pick.
