Someone doesn't understand that sending a private message to someone you have on ignore wouldn't make much sense. In fact, I'm not sure it's even possible. On a lighter note, I'm just glad to see Florida's newfound toughness had a pre Christmas expiration date.

You still fail to see that his issue is deeper than his feeling Pearl is just "weak". Any fool could see the agenda and how much deeper and personal it runs than simply style of coaching or team play or whatever.

Secondly, my "crusade" addresses this coaching attack, not a personal crusade as hat is doing. I don't know the guy, never met him or anything of that sort, but I am addressing his tone and content that he puts out here.

I'm sorry you feel he is above being criticized for putting his personal agenda against the coach of the team everyone on this site supports for all to see here, but what do you expect? You can't be so dense to think that it would be readily acceptable to do the things hat does as far as his relentless and personal attacks on Pearl in connection with his smug condescension towards those who disagree with him. You are so uptight with me criticizing him, but so indifferent with his same actions towards others.

South Carolina's combination of injuries and ineptitude, coupled with the West just flat being bad, will probably bail Florida and Vanderbilt out where making the NCAAs is concerned. That said, I bet whoever draws them will be very happy on Selection Sunday.

one's a lawyer, who knows why the other loves double talk so much. either way, too lame for me on a weekend. haters down to two, as we are in the top 20... to hate on a ranked vols team is hard without a serious gap in logic, which these two show in abundance. let them rile up ut fans under the guise of fans themselves, and not as the trolls they really are. it's not fooling me. there are other issues here. hat's have begun to be revealed, albeit slowly. time will see bpv slip up too. i think maybe bpv is just one of those 'too stubborn to ever be wrong' types, though, and got on the wrong team early.

Given your definition of “Haters” (People who criticism Pearls coaching ability), you are crazy if you think it is down to 2 (two). Given the circumstances of the past 2 weeks I have decided not to pile on.

It will be interesting to see how long the team remains ranked, but more importantly, how deep their tourney run if they are invited.

Wow. I just read 6 pages of mind numbing drivel.

Lex said it perfectly clear. There are no 2 posters that want UT to excel in hoops more than hat and BPV.

They might not agree 100% on the path to get there, but they want the same end result.

I tend to side more with BPV than hat, as I also like Pearl. However, to say that there aren't major flaws in his X's and O's is complete nonsense. I wish he could mend his shortcomings and take us where we want to be, but I don't blindly wear the orange glasses and sip the orange kool-aid.

How many times have we seen the same crap over and over. Dribble, dribble, dribble, pass, tick, tick, tick, launch desperation 3. When we had Lofton and JaJuan, it was alright, as they bailed us/him out.

How many times has Wayne Chism shot a momentum killing/altering 3, instead of going into the paint with his back to the basket, where he can be dominant if so inspired?

His halfcourt sets are atrocious.

I've said it before, I see Fulmeritis easing into CBP. He has the fat contract, has done a lot to promote our brand and increase exposure and revenue. Fulmer had a NC to ride into the ground. Pearl got us a #1 ranking for 48 hours.

I've seen hat say before, and I agree, that CBP needs to upgrade his assistants. Pearl can be a great motivator, so hire a solid X's and O's guy. He doesn't seem like the Fulmer type that prefers loyalty and kissing the pinkie ring over competence.

I don't see how people can't differentiate between Pearl's unrelenting selling of the UT program and his obvious lack of coaching ability....

It took me awhile to be able to do it....I let the tournament appearances, the TBA renovations, the facility upgrades and the media love for Pearl override the team's lack of discipline and ineffectiveness in the X's and O's department....

I am forever grateful to Pearl for bringing the program out of the Peterson era with his eternal optimist attitude and his excitement about being the UT coach...Am I happy that the Vols are relevant during the tournament selection show again ??...Yes...Am I happy with the early exits once the Vols get there ??...No...

When I watch this team play I get so frustrated at the lack of execution, the lack of basic basketball skill sets and the lack of discipline on and off the court...That is all on coach Pearl..I will say this..If the Vols come out of the next 5 games, starting with the win over Charlotte, at 4-1 I'll have to give Pearl a lot of props on being able to keep this team together..That would be a real good coaching job on it's own merit......

I love the Vols and I'm not a Pearl-hater but the facts and proof are there in front of your face..You just have to open your eyes...

so to get this straight, he's 'bad coaching' us to the most success we've ever had? a good coach and these last few vols squads would have made it farther than the sweet 16? a good coach would have an even better class coming in, despite this one being UT's best ever? when does the ruhtardedness of all this sink in to you blindered haters?
all i know is that you football fans don't know a thing about hoops. maybe you coach a bball team on the side and are busy ruining young kids lives with your notions of what is good basketball, but that doesn't prove you know anything. in fact, all the proof i needed of your 'knowledge', or lack thereof, are these ridiculous posts after the memphis win. i look forward to all of you shutting up and being angry over CBP's success once again this year as we continue to win games. players get up for some games over others. just the way it is. look at UT-VT. you don't think those same players could have won that game if they were more focused? that's what makes college sports great. it's not all coaching, although i could see with egos like yours how you may think it is.

I'll preface this by saying I like Bruce Pearl, but what has he done any differently than Jerry Sweet 16 Green?

Both had out of control street ball offenses.

If we don't attempt a half court alley oop dunk, we dribble and pass around the top of the key until there are 3 seconds left on the shot clock and then launch a desperation 3. Like I said in my previous post, when we had Lofton and JaJuan, we made a lot of those 3's, and bailed us out.

Why Chism is allowed to jack up 3 after 3 after 3 after 3 is mind boggling. He needs to be in the paint, where he can be dominant.

We still act like we have never seen a zone defense.

We typically don't box out.

We let Jodie Meeks make us look like rec-league clowns in Knoxville last year. After his 10th made 3, you would think we would finally double down on him.

Clyde owned Bruce, and Kevin O'Neill was child's play. Bruce has his strengths, and bench coach is not one of them.

Some of our kids that are seniors play like they have the basketball IQ of a box of worms.

I'm happy with what Bruce has done in resurrecting the program, but I want to continue going onward and upward, and not plateau at the Sweet 16. I hope Bruce can get us there.

if i had been on that team, i'd have taken it upon myself to try to stop meeks, not that that would have worked any better than the lack of d we showed. that was a frustrating game, as no one wanted to step up and guard him. again, to anyone who watches college bball, it was bad effort on a bad day by our players, something that happens to all teams of unprofessionals (which is why oblivious bettys win the ncaa tourney pool at the office). when recruiting classes start getting worse, i'll worry. until then, i'll remember what jerry green teams felt like, talent and discipline wise (i was there) vs these vols we have now. a bad effort day by a CBP team is so much better than a a good one w green. we are up now in basketball, more so than we've been in my lifetime. who can say different? i don't hear people killing CLK on here despite having nowhere near the success that CBP had in his worst year. why the double-standard? top 5 recruiting class for football is one thing, to have one in hoops blows my mind, and would yours too if you'd followed this program for more than 5 years. you guys are like those UF 'new money' fans with no class whatsoever, who don't remember being a laughingstock forever b4 the success. be happy with the achievements we have, because it isn't something we should take for granted at UT. Go Vols!!!
