Good QB News

I love how blunt and honest Kiffin is. He may be leaning toward Crompton, but he's simply just like "Coleman played better than him in the scrimmage." Calls them like he sees them.[/QUOTE]

I like how he doesn't use "coach speak". I think it is also a good thing that he lets his assistants be interviewed. Gives you a better idea of who they are and how they see things since every one is new. Wish they would let Monte have his own 30 minute special at night!!! Saban is such a control freak that he only allows himself to speak about the program. Everyone else is off limits.

Wow obviously you have never played a down of football. There is this thing called an offensive line which is key to a QB's success. Having our offensive line switching positions basically every down did nothing but confuse them more. JC could hardly snap the ball.

Lol.

But assuming he's going to magically become an even moderately accurate QB in one offseason or that his arrant throws to open receivers wasn't his fault is completely genius.

Please, as has been mentioned by numerous posters, he couldn't hit a broad side of a barn last year and the blame goes primarily on him. Did the OL suck? Yes. Was there no running game? Yes. Did this help his cause? No. Were those throws that any ligitimate SEC QB should be able to make, regardless of circumstance? Try any Sun Belt QB. This is the SEC, he's never going to have a nice pocket and 6 seconds every pass play.

Interesting how Crompton had a higher completion percentage than Stephens did...good call

Alot more than you might think... though I'm not really offering a complete out for him. Any time in football you are tentative and unsure about what you are doing... you are apt to make more mistakes.

Not really the system but the lack of understanding of it and to a significant degree the lack of buy in.

"TheDude" might want to read this...

No he didn't. He ran a form of option, but it wasn't the triple option. His SR year was more of a passing offense.

yeah it was more shotgun passing w/ some option if i'm right by his jr and sr years.

McCallie ran triple option back in 02-03 and i dont remember when exactly they changed, but I think it was right before Coleman began starting his Sophmore year

...and the report coming out of of one of the practices is that JC cannot operate out of the shotgun...hmmm Maybe it is the OL fault?

"Stephens sailed several passes over his receivers' heads in his first return to practice but was more accurate Thursday. Still, the Texas native fumbled a shotgun snap and had a pass batted back that could have been picked off."

Crapton threw several interceptions today and had a fumble snap and had to run laps. CLK is giving the 5th yr senior a chance but JC is doing his self in. The writing on the wall is becoming more and more legible and that is Crompton can't play.

We are talking about a guy that just broke his wrist and that was his first practice. At least have some sense before you type...At least he has a legitimate excuse...What is Cromptons...I hope whatever QB CLK picks does a great job..I hope breaks Ainge's completion record...BUT IMO it is not going to happen. Have you ever broke a wrist VK? I have and if is almost imposible to grip a football or even a baseball for that matter...I am surprised that NS is even throwing like he is...says something about his skills and competitiveness..with that said he is still throwing better in practice than JC WITH a wrist that isnt 100%..

What does that have to do with JC muffing a simple hand off & throwing the ball way short? You can't blame everything on the crappy system we had last year.

Didn't finish my sentence. Could barely snap the ball without getting pressure is what I meant.

Which is why he is the starter! Oh... wait...
