The word “commitment” attributed to a recruit has become a misnomer. Need to coin a new word, calling him/her a currentment. If you don’t sign a player out of high school, there’s a good chance you might get that player on the rebound in a year or four through the transfer portal. Now many programs are sustaining or gaining championship contention status via the portal. It’s the sigh of the times for us traditionalists.
