Good news for Brandon Warren (merged)

He will probably have to redshirt/sit out a year though due to the transfer rule

saw this and it it still possible

To be eligible next fall, Warren must still receive a waiver from the NCAA of its mandatory one-year penalty for students who transfer within Division I-A.

That appeal must be made by Tennessee, and cannot begin until he is enrolled at the university.

I saw that in the article that he has to appeal for the transfer. Why does sitting out this season not count?

Because this year doesn't against his eligiblity now due to the ruling by the NCAA. Anytime a kid transfers from one FBS (or 1-A, whatever you want to call it) school to another, they are ineligible for the year. Because the year counts neither for or against his eligibility, it doesn't count as a "sit-out" year

So does that mean we still could be looking at 2009 for Warren with 3 years of eligibility (worst case scenario)? :ermm:

Didn't he sign "recently"?

Thanks. I live in Florida and FSU has not had a championship team in several years... Do you not usually grow up wanting to go to the University in your back yard??? I really think other than 2005 we have been a much better team than FSU...

You can't help that some kids like other teams and just want to play elsewhere. Don't you think the same was said of guys like Berry? Can't get em all and we've done pretty well the past few years of taking some top talent from other states.

Good luck! I've spent many an opening morning the same way.

He signed in February of 2006... several months after the 5-6 season. So obviously, the direction of the program may have been a determining factor also...
