Not to make this political but it feels like the last election..

The establishment had their candidate and their out of touch lapdogs in the national media talking down to anyone who didn't accept him.

as long as we dont end up with a donald trump as the result of this then im good. nothing says anti establishment like a silver spoon fed billionaire

Andy Staples loves bourbon and BBQ, and he did cover the Vols early in his journalism career. He married well and named his basset hound, Leeloo, for the character in The Fifth Element, a camp classic with several standout performances and quotable dialog. I contend that these qualities evidence his overcoming being a walk-on to Spurrier's UF teams.

Nobody, including myself, wanted Schiano because his record was mediocre.

The sex abuse angle gave Currie a reason to break the agreement when he saw how upset everyone was.

This is all on Currie.

Disagree. My single biggest issue was association with the Sandusky affair. I do not want my alma mater associated with Ped St. Period. I could care less he denied it. I could care less he’s. DC at tOSU. That’s their business don’t care. I DO care about the integrity of my alma mater.

This was pure tone deaf on the part of Currie. It is ammo for the next Title IX accuser. It’s myopic considering the still pending litigation and recent settlements.

Greg Schiano should never have been considered for HC at TN in order to protect our university from association with the Sandusky travesty. The fact that he is a ****ty football coach is additional ammo for me not the main reason.

And I’m ******n tired of sports media telling ME what my damn reasons are for protesting this hire. I know EXACTLY why I hated it

Couldn't have said it better. I got very active on social media yesterday because I'm tired of 1 or 2 wealthy and powerful boosters forcing mediocrity down our throats, and telling us we're dumb for not eating it up. I'm also tired of guys like herbstreit condescendingly opining on a program they regularly mock. espn would've relentlessly attacked this hire and ranked it among the "worst in the sec coaching carousel". Bottom line: GS is not a good coach, with a questionable past, and a consensus a$$ to be around. NOT IN MY HOUSE.
Sidebar: if the dude is so darn great, where where the massive outcries from former players and colleagues? ........crickets

True if GS is the next great thing I would expect more AD's to be interviewing him.

Yeah. Tennessee fans are tired of cheap hires and this one had some baggage.. This one is on Curry. It's part of the problem too. Curry hasn't been here for the last 10 years. He grossly misjudged the mode of the fanbase. Another thing that says he's disconnected is that was the worst team ever record wise and still tries to pull this crap. We need some leadership in the AD offices instead of guys who have a piece of paper that says they're qualified to do the job. Sometimes you need some field training. We keep hiring guys who skip that.

I don't even think it's a cheap hire issue. Based on how things have changed, i think you are better off to hire a proven coordinator or an up and comer, unless the perfect scenario presents itself. Mullen was the closest thing and that I don't think he's worth $6million.
If you have a climbing coach, one who has succeeded at a lower level and shows a positive future, then that is doable. Schiano was and is none of those things. Add the Sandusky Gray area and it's "run away." Hell, he lost to Butch at his last college job.

Barrett Sallee of CBS sports also has been saying all day that the Tennessee fans should not back down, and that we don't deserve a crap coach like we were about to get, nor were we wrong for causing such a stink about it.

Few media guys get it, and in the end they will be ones who will be writing favorable articles about in the future pointing back to this moment when we finally take over the SEC and college football again.

Excellent article. Whether your first concern was his association with the scandle or mediocre record, combined it a non starter. WTF was Currie thinking?

"The fans didn't do what they did Sunday because they're crazy, they did it because they love Tennessee."

Exactly.

That describes me. I'm not crazy, and I didn't expect Jon Gruden, but never in my wildest imagination did I think Greg Schiano was a viable candidate. Maybe because I saw how he treated players, fans, media while in Tampa.

Fans are customers of a product they love. Don't lecture me on why I should 'accept' something i don't like. Currie says he vetted all this???? Bull****. If he knew the baggage, he would have known there would be protests. They would have prepared themselves and Schiano and come
out publicly with a defense.

He was thinking the fans would fall in line to back a crap coach just like we have been the past 10 years.

Unfortunately for him, he miscalculated this gambit by a wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide margin
